That's high! Did corrie have a big episode that day?

ETA: It was Nick and David's crash wasn't it?

It was Nick confronting David over the hate campaign/lorry ploughing into them.

As a fan of both CS and ED, I think it's a combination of factors. Stuart Blackburn alienated a lot of Emmerdale fans, from which it has still not recovered. EastEnders is terrible and has been for a long time now. And there's bugger all else on when Corrie is. I certainly don't think these admittedly impressive ratings are because of any sort of golden era for Corrie - it's not exactly brilliant at the moment, far from it.

I think it's a case of the nation rallying around it's favourite.

What can't speak can't lie the ratings for Corrie in August don't forget where most are on holiday and enjoying the sunshine are very impressive

The ratings for ED will always be lower whatever storylines they come up with face it ED and EE are in 2nd and 3rd place and miles behind Corrie.end of.

EE has had its bad patch for at least 2 years now.

Outstanding ratings for Corrie the show is going from strength to strength long may it continue. If its getting these kind of figures in August imagine how much more it could get in the winter months.

Improvement for EE. I think we will see a week on week rise now until we get to over 8 million again.

Not for long though. In March ED was down 340k yoy and since KO became producer in april, the show's gained 300K. ED is definitely on the rise and of the big 3 the soap regularly gaining viewers.

Corrie's ratings are very stable, as in March it was already up 160K yoy.

EE still losing viewers. In March EE was down 530k yoy ( without ED clashes)

EE was down 730k in March, my mistake. So the show is no longer losing viewers but not really gaining new viewers either. I think EE has reached a plateau.

Predictions for EastEnders ratings this week/month?

If I'm honest I can't see the show going over 7m until later this month at the earliest. I can't help but feel like this expensive stunt will be a waste of money and have little effect on ratings both short and long-term.

Coronation Street is really strong going into the colder months. The definition of viewer loyalty I would say.

The stunt is only the start....The aftermath continues across into next week (I think Thurs will see the highest ep for sometime) Ronnie's return next week....
Spoiler
Shirley
Goes missing in a big Are they dead or Alive moment...The week after
Spoiler
Jean
Leaves,Peggy return and the week after that David is back. That takes you right to the end of September

Indeed and I think it's going to be a really exciting month for the soap, but will it do much ratings wise? It's much harder to gain viewers than lose them and I can't help but feel September is coming too soon. The show still has a terrible reputation - will people really give this big month a chance? And how are they going to keep it going in the run up to Christmas? All of those stories seem to be one-time moments, apart from Ronnie's return which could be dragged out.

I'm not envious of Dominic that's for sure.

EastEnders: 6.87m (35.8%)

Certainly much better than some of the disastrous ratings we got in the summer, although slightly disappointing that it couldn't reach 7m. Can't see Thursday or Friday reaching it either.

The ratings may be a little disappointing there but that's a good audience share.

As Dan said the trailer advertised Tuesday at 7:30pm, trailed throughout the BBC as a HUGE car crash stunt. So that is going to be the highest rating this week.

Disappointing to see EastEnders still within the 6 million range but at least the share is reasonable, at 36%. There simply weren't that many people available to watch television (a mere 19.19 million) and I'm trusting that the aftermath will be a bigger pull.

A very strong audience share would be roughly at least two-fifths (40%) but the mid to late-30s is fine.
