Here's how the soaps are doing in comparison to 2005 (not the fairest, mind):

EastEnders had 13.15 million (53%), whilst a double helping of Corrie delivered 12.24m (52.6%) and 11.1m (43.7%) to ITV1. Emmerdale had 9.1m (41.4%).

Highest soap officials for the week of Corrie and Emmerdale's big week

Corrie
10.48m (inc+1 10.97) Wednesday

EastEnders Monday
8.15m

Emmerdale Wednesday
8.85 (HD roughly 800k) (inc+1 9.10m)

Excl+1 Emmers is a 700k ahead of EE, and Corrie a whopping 2.33m ahead of EE, i think the biggest after time-shift for years. However that EE rating look fairly respectable compared to the recent standards.

Fantastic for Corrie - three episodes over 10m in the officials. Excellent for Emmerdale too - I would say at least four episodes above the 8m mark.

Corrie's in a really strong place coming up to Hayley's death in January. Is 11m in the overnights a possibility? They need to advertise it a lot.

Ratings wise yes, but at the moment a couple of the storylines are letting i down.Friday's episodes were terrible and in soap particularly Corrie, bad episodes can kill momentum.

In regards to Hayley's exit, definitely 11million+ is possible but they would need t be careful and subtle to ho they promote it.

I'm surprised Becky's exit rated so high. She deserved it though - I'd love for her to make a return some day.

Indeed, I'm incredibly sceptical as to what's coming up after Hayley's death but I guess we'll see. I think the show's fine until January though and can get away with a few filler stories as long as Hayley's the focus.

Good to see that in spite of all the recent criticism from fms, both eps of Corrie got over 9m viewers last night (inc +1).

ED achieved very close to 7.5m (inc +1), comfortably ahead of EE again. Another excellent rating for ED.

I wonder why the second Corrie usually rates lower. More people are usually watching TV at 20:30 than at 19:30 too.

Define "everyone".

Everyone on here, maybe, but what of the casual viewer, or the viewers who don't trawl the spoiler pages and forums?

Oh come on! Anyone who doesn't know how Alfie and Kat work lives under a rock.
