Wrong! EastEnders and corrie were close last night both under 7m no doubt due to the Good Friday get away and decent weather.

EastEnders remained consistent and held its viewers across the week. Up on last Friday too and almost 600k for BBC3

In your opinion, it hasn't been as bad as Emmer thats for sure, all soaps have quiet times as regards to big storylines, but even when its just ticking over or building up to one, it usually trounces the other big 2. what parts do you think have ben dire? the only storylines that annoy me a bit are Petertina and Sawphiemaddeh. everything else had been watchable.

Lucy wasn't really a major character so her being killed off was never going to have that much of an impact on the ratings.

It's because of bank holiday and the nice weather who wants to sit in and watch TV when it's nice like this it could be the only time we see the sun this year.

I think its very clever of the producers to show us NOTHING just a lifeless body - this is all you see on shows like Law and Order:SVU and this keeps you guessing until the very end... Love it!!!!

Exactly, and in the interests of balance, it should be pointed out that ALL soap ratings were crap last night as a result. The No.1 soap Corrie couldn't even reach 7m on first view. EE with all the drama and hype of the murder of a major character couldn't reach 6.5m. Context is everything.

And? The Guillotine was quite popular back in the day as well.

I usually remain impartial to these idiotic "soap rating wars" threads, but I feel obliged to say this!

Corrie will always have a loyal following. More older people tend to be loyal, Corrie obviously has a lot of 50+ viewers who of course have grew up with the show. Remember it did launch back in 1960!

EastEnders - pulling in over 6 million is pretty good going for appealing to a more younger audience. A lot of people watch iPlayer too, so that increases the ratings, not to mention the BBC3 screening, so it's surpassing 7 million viewers.

In my opinion, EastEnders will always generate the most publicity out of any other soaps, whether it be good press or bad, and that in my opinion - speaks volumes as to why Corrie fans get so irritated and bitter! Sorry but the Corrie fans really don't make themselves look too mature on these forums!

I think they did well considering it was Good Friday, the weather wasn't bad so most people would have been off socialising or on holiday.

The one which got an audience share of 35.4% as opposed to 30.8%...

The difference being that L&O SVU only keeps us guessing for an hour, (43 mins if you ditch the ads).

Truth is, many many viewers these days have the attention span of gnats with ADHD on crack, so I'm guessing that after a week or two focussing on the aftermath, it will be (wisely) dropped for a good few months until the next time the writers have an attack of writer's block and need to revive it.

Yep, having been the No.1 soap for over 50 years, Corrie fans really have a lot to be 'bitter' about don't they?

All soaps didn't do that well last night, but at least EE was up on last week. Looking at the shares the total audience was actually a little higher than last week between 7 and 8.30pm, a little lower than last week at 8.30pm, so we can't just put the soap drops down to weather/bank holiday although would have played a part.

(Also this has has now replaced the wink as the most irritating smilie.)

Well speaking personally, it has quite successfully replaced the late lamented roll eyes smilie. Just look at the wry, world-weary look on its face - I love it! Says far more to me than the roll eyes one ever did.

You're obviously a fan of Corrie... Are you enjoying the Peter/Tina/Carla affair? The Sophie and Maddie romance? I'm not making a dig at you, I'm just genuinely asking. I used to love Corrie, but I really can't stand it anymore. The storylines are almost laughable for me... not necessarily for everyone else.

In relation to the other soaps and the audience share, I think EastEnders did well enough. And the BBC Three number was pretty huge.

Yes, I've been a big fan for a long long time and it remains my favourite soap, (with ED a very close second).

But of course that's not to say that my fandom makes it compulsory for me to enjoy every sl irrespective. Of course I hated the totally unbelievable Peter/Tina affair - who didn't? - but now that it's all coming to a head, with Peter back on the booze, Tina about to find out Carla's pregnant etc, I'm definitely looking forward to the next few weeks, (if only to see the world finally rid of Orangutina!

Sawpheh/Maddeh - total pile of poo without a shadow of doubt. But it's all about taking the rough with the smooth, same with every soap, and for me personally Corrie has enough 'smooth' to keep it my personal No.1 soap.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there! I don't watch EE regularly because it just doesn't do it for me - the acting is mainly awful (I'm not saying CS acting is great BTW) and the 'funny' situations are just so forced.

Having said that - if it had been one of the more major characters meeting their demise - I may have tuned in - Lucy is just a rather bland, boring character who never added much anyway. Besides - she's changed heads so much I doubt anyone would know which Lucy was going to be killed.
