Good news.

Lucy's death is a big talking point and with the promotion, and it of course being Easter Monday, it makes total sense to see an increase of over a million viewers.

I hope EE manages to hold on tonight.

It's much better than it has been in truth!

The past 2 years have sucked and my approach would have been to have wiped the last 2 years off with Ian laying in bed with the shower running and he gets up to see if it's Denise but behold it's Jayne with a soapy smile and then Ian realises it was all a bad dream!

No fat Pat dying!
No Terry and the awful wife and children!
No Shanab!

Good excuse to re-correct the past 2 years where this show really sucked on a huge scale!

I hope you're joking, I can't tell!

The episode bored me to be honest, I foolishly didn't expect Ian finding out to be the cliffhanger. I thought all the dramatic stuff would happen in this episode so I'll definitely be tuning in tonight.

And it was a nice surprise seeing Malachy from Hollyoaks as the policeman.

Well done EE it really does deserve those ratings as it has been great these last few months. Let's hope it can hold on to those viewers tonight as tonight's episode looks heartbreaking.

Meh; I've never found last request to be a wind-up tbh. I cannot say the same for xtonix.

Maybe I haven't noticed last request's stuff as much yet. Don't know. I know I've agreed with them a few times.

I never joke when it comes to the watts. (Only when it comes to the Mitchells).

Bet Last request will still be slating it - no matter what, shouldn't be though.

Good to see Geri from Family Affairs as the policewoman (as well as Malachy from Hollyoaks - that's right).

Woodyatt claims these were some of the best scripts that he's ever received - i can believe that TBH - from watching this tragedy unfold which will be surely heartbreaking.

Only a 34% share, though? Meh.

That's pretty bloody decent!

It's a small victory but one that I feel like celebrating!

EastEnders was the most-watched soap of the day, rising to 8.18m (34.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian Beale was told that his daughter Lucy had been found dead. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 265k (6.0%) at 12.05am.

Elsewhere, Coronation Street pulled in 7.8m (35.1%) at 7.30pm on ITV as Steve began to lose patience with Tina's deception, while the show rose to 8.09m (33.1%) at 8.30pm and 204k (0.9%) on +1 as Steve decided to confront Tina with his knowledge of her affair.

Emmerdale attracted 6.32m (30.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 131k (0.6%) on +1 as James tried to get answers from Moira over Adam's paternity.

Airing against the Neighbours special, Hollyoaks was dented to 788k (4.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Holly and Jason found a dead body, while E4's first look followed with 786k (3.8%) at 7pm and 109k (0.5%) on +1.

The Ramsay Street soap claimed 1.1m (6.9%) at 5.30pm as Kate was shot on her birthday, while the show soared to 1.41m (7.5%) at 6.30pm with a first look episode which revealed Kate's fate. The show also had 475k (5.9%) with Part One of the shooting at the earlier time of 12.45pm.

Well done EE.

Well done EastEnders! Would be a shame for the viewers to dip tonight!

34% share is fine really. Gone are the days when it got 60% (Chrissie killing den) or even the 70's - when den returned.

The real test is keeping the audience. That's why the live ep was such a huge failure; it went back to normal figures literally the next episode (never saw anything like it). It can't be a great feeling when literally millions turn off because they thought what they saw was crap.

EE needs to keep the 34% share over the next week or 2 at least. The actual figures will fluctuate.

Good news! Though I do think the episode was only 'good, with some great stuff'...

Hopefully that and the disappointingly unemotional doof doof moment won't make people feel 'meh' about watching tonight's, which I'm sure will be awesome (and probably more deserving of higher ratings than last night!).

Hopefully the football doesn't do too much damage...

I got a real sense of achievement for Eastenders when I saw this!!!

Finally it's getting recognition for it's improvement.

Well done Eastenders

But who wants to watch Chelsea play? Plus as eastenders start before the match chances are if viewer's are enjoying they wont turn over

I thought that the build up and all the forensic scenes were all very well done and original too.

EE fully deserved it. Hopefully some of the returning viewers will stick around.

I was in Tescos earlier and the check out girl was talking about EE to every costumer. I nearly asked her if she was on DS but thought I better not
