This! I do find this excuse rather funny. Cornwall is pretty much like any of ITV's other fillers-the only difference being it is more popular, because the other channels offerings obviously aren't as appealing. It's probably the least aggressive scheduling possible from ITV.

Yeah, the football probably dented EE slightly, as Corrie's 2nd ep was also slightly down from the 1st, but I still feel there is problems when ED is only 0.6m behind EE which has a better slot. And imo ED is in a worse state than EE atm.

Based on my family and friends, those who watch Monday Night Football on Sky will watch it every week, because there will always be a big club playing, it'll always be Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal etc.

I'm hoping the improved quality of Neighbours will see a gradual and consistent rise in the ratings. I see it's lunchtime airing on Tuesday got 850k again, hopefully a sign of things to come. Keep it up Neighbours

Meanwhile people are still watching that crap that is EastEnders. Why people put up with such poor quality is beyond me, really...

Great share for EE and a higher than usual Thursday night share for Corrie.

34.4% is OK for EE on a friday.
Very strong share for Emmerdale though. I don't know how the show is rating so well as it is really awful atm.

yeah I agree, especially after Thursday's high rating
but it's up y-o-y, so it's not as bad as it looks

Corrie's second episode should have done better with the departure of a long-serving character

EE will struggle big time on Thursday against Emmerdale as will Corrie the following Sunday, the latter not as much thanks to the Beeb moving Call The Midwife back half an hour

Interesting Facts:
EastEnders: Thursday's rating was its highest since 12th January

Emmerdale: highest Friday rating since 18th February 2011

Home and Away is dying a death in the UK. That's a truly dreadful rating for a major episode. Here's how the equivalent episode rated in previous years...

Friday 08th February 2002- 2.27m
Friday 14th February 2003- 1.91m
Friday 13th February 2004- 2.12m
Friday 11th February 2005- 2.09m
Friday 10th February 2006- 2.03m
Friday 09th February 2007- 1.95m
------------------------------------------------------
Friday 08th February 2008- 1.24m
Friday 13th February 2009- 1.17m
Friday 12th February 2010- 1.19m
------------------------------------------------------
Friday 11th February 2011- 1.03m
------------------------------------------------------
Friday 10th February 2012- 0.76m

apart from last night's episode, the rest of the above figures are official ratings which take recordings watched in the 7 days after into account

What a shame. It was the best episode in ages as well and the aftermath next week looks to be gripping stuff. Sigh.

whats the difference between the share and the rating?

EE was low due to it being friday I expect but last week had 8.6m.

I think we could see 9million again monday.

Can anyone predict next Thursday's outcome? Emmerdale Vs EastEnders...

EastEnders grew a massive 1.4million from 8.6million to 10million in the officals for the 3rd of Febuary Episode.

Monday 13th Feb Overnights

Emmerdale - 8.04m (35.3%)
Coronation Street - 9.87m (40.9%)
EastEnders - 8.73m (34.5%)
Coronation Street - 9.96m (38.9%)

Fantastic ratings and share for corrie, ED strong with 8m and a 35% share, not so good for EE, the share is awful.

EE never rates well on monday and 34.5% is a major improvement on last week's 32.5%. EE is a slightly dented by ITV programme about Wales that is rating surprisingly well against EE.

Good for Corrie and ED.
