What with the sports coverage starting in a few weeks on ITV & BBC, the soaps are about to get messed up schedule wise, I bet last nights 8:30pm Corrie rated lower as it's out of it's usual slot.

Thanks for these DJ - I know it's hard to get ratings data access these days.

Do you have an overnight average / comparison for the month of April?

That figure for Corrie really shows how much this soap has fallen YOY thanks to Blackburn and Co. Under Phil Collinson this figure was I'm pretty sure even in his last year in 2013 8m or just slightly under, and earlier 2010/11 8m+.

Its incredible its taking ITV bosses to get the useless twonk out.

No problem. I'm waiting on a Barb amendment to check a few April figures.

I dunno. Even EastEnders did a fair bit better on the ratings back in 2013 and we all know the difference in quality between then and now. Long gone are the days where significant + or - was indicative of quality. That's not how it works these days.

I agree, Emmerdale has also dropped since when Blackburn was in charge (probably because It lost viewers then that never came back) and now like Eastenders it's in a much better position, however, the ratings are lower than they were 3 - 5 years ago.

When Corrie is weak, it affects all the soaps. Corrie is the backbone of the soap schedule. I believe if Corrie's ratings rise, and Emmerdale is good so will theirs.

Is it not noticable that Emmerdale's ratings have followed Corrie's decline, despite the good quality for over 4 years and perhaps more?

Even EastEnders is struggling to rise much because Corrie is not bringing in the soap viewers.

I would say the "quality" of ED is a matter of opinion - just because its been chasing a social media audience under Kate Oates, and in doing so, finding success in soap award stuff, doesn't particularly reflect on whether the show has been quality drama or not.

When exactly did CS become the "backbone" of the soap schedule - you don't have to go that far back to reach a point where EE was regularly beating it ratings wise.

Could you not argue that the collapse of EE is what has brought the soap ratings down?

Your obsessional hate for CS under SB (which I've no argument with) is clouding your judgement when it comes to making statements about ratings.

I din't think that there's even been a time where Eastenders was regularly the top rated soap, unless you count the late 80s - but even then it was only doing so if you included the omnibus figures for EE.

Figures released as par of the BBC charter earlier this year did prove that once all showings eg catch up and the like were included it showed EastEnders had an overall weekly reach of 11 million. So the BBC are claiming EE gains 4 million on catch up but not sure which platforms they are actually using as a measure as I can't see anything to suggest its that much.

How is EastEnders rating since it started being shown on Watch?

Isn't "reach" something like the number of people who will have watched something like 15 minutes of the programme every week?
