Beckys exit best since Den/Angie
Some are saying that Beckys exit from Corrie was the best soap moment since Den/angie in 86 ,
Not sure about that but it was brilliantly done IMO and i suppose it was in the same vein sort of, everybody exepcted it to happen at wedding , but it wasnt , remember the Den/angie moment well , but whether it (cs) was as good am not so sure , still brilliant moments B tw, some are saying over 25 million watched Den/Angie moment and only 11 watched Beckys, but you have to remember that in 86, there were only 4 channels And it was on xmas day as well, so IMO you cant really compare the two viewing figures |

You can't really compare todays ratings to viewing figures from 10 years ago never mind from 25 years ago but I was surprised that it rated as highly. Not that Becky was a bad character or that it was a bad episode. The character of Becky was a big presence on the Street for the last few years and the episodes were brilliant. What surprised me was that the episodes attracted more viewers than Pats exit on EE. And I'm not saying this in any sort of EE vs Corrie way. I mean that Pat was on EE for 25 years and was well known in popular culture, even to non soap watchers, for her big earrings and garish dress sense having been lampooned on various sketch shows and of course TV Burp over the years. Exact details of her exit were kept under wraps nearly up until the end plus there was the added guessing game of which faces from the past would show up for her departure (Wicksy being the surprise return). Her exit was much publicised with interviews, announcements of her getting her own theme and special trailers. Becky on the other hand had only been on Corrie for six years and while she has made a massive impact and appeared in many prominent storylines, she wouldn't be as widely recognised as Pat would be. I know we did have something of a guessing game with her exit too as two endings were reportedly filmed and she did get her own special but she isn't quite the soap icon that Pat was.
