Hi Guys, I bought my partner a Sagemcom freesat recorder for Xmas and last night I wanted to look through the epg for the coming week. However, there was only about 10% of the epg available the rest said something like "No information available" What was available was very slow to appear. Signal was good. A mains reset cured problem. Is this a know fault/software or is it just a one off glitch, please tell me it's a one off clitch. I am sorry I don't remember the model number, it's new, and has a 320gb hd

A mains "reset" will clear most software "issues" (same with most other receivers as well) so you shouldn't have any more problems..............

I have a Sagemcom DTR 94 250GB Freesat+HD, and have found the same problem. A mains power cycle approx every 4 weeks (or more frequently), seems to cure the problem.

You can also perform this "hard reset" by pressing and holding the "on" button (on the box, not the remote control) until the front display goes blank, then release the button and wait until the current time re-appears. Switch on as normal. I've found that occasionally the box returns to initial installation condition, requiring you to input post code etc. This seems to happen sometimes after using BBC iPlayer.

Hmmm not sure what to do now, I am well familiar with spikes in equipment and how it effects the equipment.
It's a DTR94 and this evening all the epg was there for the following week except fo BBC1. Signal on that transponder is 100% quality. A mains reset restored the epg on BBC1.
Any one had this experience???
I did think of putting a mains timer switch on to drop the mains every morning at about 4am, bit drastic, any other ideas??

I have just talked with Sagemcom techys and they say that the software update has to be done via the internet onto a usb stick then uploaded. The latest version is V148, any comments on this??

This version software has yet to be formally released (it is imminent I believe), but there are a number of users who have been carrying out beta "field testing" with promising results that appear to have resolved a couple of issues that have dogged the dtr94 series recently, after the last software version (v1.4.1) ota download did cause a few boxes to go t**s up, so to speak!!

This should hopefully solve our problems. I've sent an email to Donald, asking him to send me the new software.

If I leave my sagemcom box on standby overnight, it fails to bring up any on screen graphics, the Epg or channel number during operation when I turn it on again. I have resolved this by switching it off at night. Is this supposed to happen?

No! Send an email to Donald at support.service@sagemcom.com and ask for the new v1.4.8 software. Then put it on a USB memory stick, following Donald's instructions. You'll then find a great improvement in the performance of your box .

Guy guys, sorry for the delay in reply. Here are my experiences.
I loaded up the software tha was sent to me. To remind you I was losing the epg and a hard reset would restore.

I loaded ver 1.4.8 and it seemed to develop two different faults
1/ it produced a "ghost like image" of two vertical bars about 2 inches in width and about 16 inches apart on this 32 inch tv. Going into the picture menu changing the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 and then BACK again cured the fault albeit to return again the next day after going into standby.

2/ My partnet who is the user of the machine switched it on the day after the upgrade and tried to watch live TV, There was no picture except for the info banner strap at the bottome of the screen.

After looking at the feedback from Argos where I bought it I have agreed with the manager that I am "rejecting the recorder as it is unfit for purpose" Tomorrow I swapp it for a Humax with the cash adjustment.

Here is a report on software upgrade v1.4.8.

Some functions have shown a significant improvement over previous software versions.

Menus/Overlays do not disappear (used to require a power disconnect-reconnect to restore).

There is one BIG problem ->
When recording radio, the recordings are deleted if the box needs to be powered off at the mains. This did not used to happen. I have lost all my radio recordings from the HDD. New radio programmes can be recorded and stored on the HDD, but they immediately get deleted if the DTR94 needs a power disconnect-reconnect, for any reason! There has never been a problem in the past, with regard to recording and storing radio programmes. I will be disappointed if it's no longer possible store radio programmes on the Sagemcom box.

There is still a problem if I scroll through the "Library" too quickly. The following things happen ->
1) The preview screen goes black.
2) If a recording is selected anyway, a message says "the file cannot be played".
3) If trying to return to live TV, there is just a black screen.
4) Needs a power disconnect-reconnect to resolve the issue.

Hi Chris, the problem you mentioned above I have had as soon as I upgraded.
Shame about the radio, it's not something I had used.

The vertical lines problem also occured after upgrade of software. Rather strange really. It was like a negitive ghost of a 4:3 pictures scrolling across the screen. We are using a 16:9 format. When I went into the settings change from 16;9 to 4;3 then back again to 16;9 it would clear. all be to return the next day after re boot.
I suspect I did the right thing and exchanged it for a Humax which seems to have much better reviews??

Fortunately, I've not had the "negative ghost" problem that you describe, since updating to v1.4.8. I also use a 16:9 TV (via HDMI).

I too have a Humax Freesat HD (non-recorder) and Humax Freeview HD FOX T-2, (with added 500gb HDD).

The reason I bought the Sagemcom box in the first place, was because I saw it's picture quality on SD broadcasts.
I still find the Humax boxes display "soft" picture quality on SD, compared to the Sagemcom.

Both Humax and Sagemcom boxes seem to show equally sharp/crisp picture quality on HD broadcasts.

As a lot of programmes I watch are still on SD only (mainly BBC4), the Sagemcom provides me with very good SD pictures, so I persevere with it.

I'm sorry, but the DTR94 can not record radio programs.

It looks like it will record and do all the normal sequence as if it was
recording, but when you check the library, nothing is there.

The reason for this is because it did record the show to begin with and
again i apologize for that.

Thanks gw3xjc, for posting the reply. Sagemcom didn't even have the decency to reply to my report! The box definitely used to store recorded radio programmes. Obviously Sagemcom have decided that nobody wants this facility any more on the DTR94 range.

Hi Folks,

I have a problem. This morning the DTR94 was set to record a programme on More 4. When I switched the box on and tried to view another channel (BBC News), I was presented with a black screen, so I put the DTR94 back to standby and waited for the recording to finish. After the recording had finished I needed to power-off/power-on, so that the box would display a picture.

ALL my recordings in the Library (except the programme that was just recorded) have gone! The series folders are still there, but are ALL empty (no files within). The "Disk Occupation" percentage is still shown as 83% (as it was before all my recordings disappeared). I have tried a "factory reset" and several power-off/power-on cycles, but still my recordings have ALL gone. "Disk Occupation" still shows 83%.

I'm guessing that something has gone wrong with the indexing of files, or something like that.

Can anyone please help?

I am absolutely broken-hearted, ALL my special recordings from nearly 2 years past, have gone!

Had something similar happen a couple of days ago, but I did a front panel reset ONLY (not a mains reset) to clear the "black screen issue after accessing library". All is well.
I now think there is an underlying problem with the dtr94 series firmware - Sagem's software engineers need to look at the basic firmware codecs NOW - they'll never resolve the ongoing software problems unless they do.
I'm sure other makes have the same problem with software that really should have been sorted before the units were put on sale - or was /is there marketing pressures of delivery times etc. etc..
Our 12 year old Sky pace boxes still keep going strong even though there have been various "issues" (blue cards etc..) with software. There ain't any now, so - are there ANY Freesat HD pvrs manufactured that ARE completely user friendly and also reliable as regards oem software (I say this so Humax fans don't mention Raydons s/w....!)
Time for all users to look carefully at what their Freesat HD pvr IS doing compared to what it SHOULD be doing, eh?

Sadly, I did try the front-panel reset as well, but this hasn't resolved the library issue! I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet one day, and perform an HDD Format.
I'm not giving up without a fight though.
I'm so annoyed that all my precious recordings of nearly 2 years, have just disappeared .
I've written to Sagemcom, for all the good it'll do, to explain my problem. Will I get a reply? I doubt it!

Are there any Hard Drive experts who may know how to extract the files stored on my HDD, maybe to a PC?

I don't have a sagem box, but doesn't the freesat spec require recording of radio through the EPG. Complain to freesat.
