Voices With Soul - shut up bout their so called "attitude"
Ok. I would just like to say that people are completly overreacting to VWS' reactions to being in the bottom two. A. Only the aunt was angry, the daughter started crying and the mum didn't really do anything. B. I'm not surprised they were surprised they gave one of the nights top performances. If your going by attitude VWS were actually one of the more lighthearted acts whereas cassie (who I love coz of her voice) refused to speak due to anger?!?!?!Personally I vote on this show by who has the best singing voice and these three ladies had AMAZING voices. Just because they're large and Black doesn't mean in denial rascists or shallow people who vote for the best looking one should just vote for who's "personality" they like the best. THIS ISN'T BLEEDIN BIG BROTHER! No-one knows Jak S**t bout any of their personalities from the glimpses we've seen. Fact is VWS were easily one of the best acts on the night. The worst two performances like it or not came from Verity and Steve. Who cares if he had laryngitus he wasn't that fantastic before he did. After that little bit of controversy I think I'll just sit back and wait for the Steve lovers and judgemental VWS haters to attack me. LOL

I can understand why your complaining about Cassie...she did act a bit of a spoilt brat ''refusing'' to talk, she should of flipping said something while Sharon and Simon were arguing then
But I understand that VWS are obviously your favourites and I agree that verity was worse than them, but this is the public using the sympathy vote for Verity...thats the only vote she is going to get I'm afraid

![]() 1. This programme is not Pop Idol, it is called the X Factor , now to me that means the contestant with the best all round talent, which includes personality, deserves to be the winner, VWS have not shown this trait, in fact the Aunt (as you have already stated) comes across as a diva, not really what she should be displaying before her career has even started. You say we know nothing of their personalities as we've don't know them, we know as much about them as any of the others 2. You say Cassie refused to speak through anger, how do you know that, do you know Cassie's personality more than the rest of the country know VWS? Cassie is 17, I think allowances can be made for her age at this stage. |

That's a rather belligerent first post, VWSorCASSIE2WIN.
I agree that VWS did not deserve to be in the bottom two, though I don't agree with your choice of Steve and Verity for bottom two. The thing is, it's understandable that VWS - or any other contestant - would be disappointed at being in the bottom two, but they have no 'God-given' right to go through to the next round and they acted as if they believed they had. A little humility would not go amiss. Even if you are talented, you can't afford to put people's backs up when you are depending on them to vote for you. |

I also think it's interesting that people have made comments about the women being "cocky" and having "bad attitudes" - exactly the same critisisms that were levelled at the three black "divas" in American Idol. |

As far as VWS are concerned, in another thread it explains quite clearly that (in an Ali G stylee), it's because they is black.
And fat. And middle aged. And shout. There. That's cleared that up. |

I agree - the way the judges carried on was embarrassing. The contestants seem to have been forgotten and the rivalry has taken precedence. I'm not surprised that Cassie was angry. I hope Sharon apologised to her afterwards.

I remember Pete Waterman in Pop Idol (or one of them) when a girl came in and sang and when Simon (I think) just looked at her she said something along the lines of "You're so mean, I am only 16" to Pete's reply "Hold on, YOU wanted to audition don't bring your age into it". Too right! |

The conclusions about Cassie’s ‘attitude’ have been taken from a single ad-libbed line from Kate Thornton. I have to admit my kneejerk reaction was ‘silly little girl, angry with the whole world bah bah.
However, the more I think about it, the more I think that Cassie had a very mature reaction after the mauling she got from Simon. My perception now is that, when Kate was doing the quickie interviews to fill the results show, Cassie asked not to be interviewed for fear of saying something detrimental about Simon, because of heightened emotions. She was able to remain silent and not do any further damage that the Simon v Sharon rows had already caused her. Unfortunately Kate (or The Powers That Be) decided that this was a story, and so made Cassie look like a little bitch for not talking to Kate. Shame. She’s now my favourite (after me not being very bothered about her in the early stages of the competition. Her voice is utterly fabulous and I want her to win). |

I'm sorry, whether she is an adult contest or not, she is still only 17, that's like saying a junior doctor should be expected to do the same complex operations a surgeon would, because they are in an adult world now. Cassie is still learning, as any 17 year old is, cut the poor girl some slack. VWS behaved badly, not only are they old enough to keep their emotions in check, they also have each other for support. They have won over some doubters with their voices, they will need to change their attitudes if they want to win over more. And Hicken, you remarks about Fantasia, LaToya and Jennifer's behaviour in AI3 - this is not America, this is the UK - Jennifer and LaDonna were voted out before they should have been, why - because of their attitude. I can't remember Fantasia having an attitude and if she did, she won it in spite of that as she was so talented. |

And my point was it was American Idol. Much as some people seem to think we are the 51st state of America, we are not and different codes of behaviour and attitude apply here. What is construed as okay across the pond is not always acceptable here and vice versa. |

Simon attacked her look and song, both of which were chosen for her, he should have taken issue with Sharon for that not Cassie, who sang flawlessly and effortlessly. Personally I think Simon sees Cassie as a real rival for Rowetta, and he's worried.

I love Voices with Soul, but i have noticed that one of them, Grace (the blonde one), has a bad attitude! The mother (Hildia) and daughter (Corene) are very nice women and have brilliant voices.

For example, look at the strong criticisms of Peter for saying 'shut up". Cutting contestants down to size seems to be an integral part of enjoying these shows for many viewers. So no, I don't think the OTT criticisms levelled at VWS are racist, I think they're just part and parcel of the psychopathology of being a (certain kind of) RTV fan.
