TopNotch

My ageing toshiba wlt66 is saying there's a software update available (since this morning). When i try to go ahead, nothing happens (or states no update is available??!)

Anyone else getting this?

Hi

Yes funny you say that, I got that message on my 26" WLT66 Toshiba regza - on Wednesday evening about 9pm.
Followed the instructions but nothing happened, after a number of minutes the TV just went back to normal viewing but the message popped up about 3 times - without it doing anything or updating the software.
I then went into the menu and found search for auto update, and after that successfully searched it showed there was no update available. I just turned off the option to auto update.
My software version is 2.10.

I can't find anything else out about it on the www.

One thing I forget to mention, i don't know if its connected but could it be something to do with the digital switchover ? We are getting that in April where I live and this is the only thing I can think of that is connected to freeview/software updates.

If it is a Freeview TV that can get updates over the air then the place to look is the DTG website.

Which is not showing any updates for Toshiba this week.

The TV may be incorrectly identifying a current ota as being for itself.

Hi Me again,

I called Toshiba Tech support and they were very good.
Like TopNotch said, another TV manufacturer is running updates and the message is popping up on the model mentioned.

The technical support chap I spoke to, knew instantly why I called and advised me of how to remove/resolve the problem. (Which I infact had done but wasn't sure if it was a temp fix I did)

The model mentioned will no longer get updates so there is an option in Menu - Settings for Auto 'search for updates' which is defaulting to Yes.
Just change that to No and the message should not appear any more.

Toshiba won't be sending anymore updates for that model so its Ok to show that a No (Off).

The Version of Software I have is 2.10.

If you want to get in touch with the Toshiba Technical Support (UK only) then the number is
0844 856 0730 (M-F 9am-6pm)

Thanks

Why do posters persist in quoting these premium rate rip off numbers?
