Please BBC don't be taken in with all the carp that people want her back! Please keep this dreadful woman off the wonderful SCD!

It makes Debra Stephenson's tongue in cheek impersonation of Arlene stalking the others on SCD look less implausible, somehow.

Still don't rate the Sun as a reliable newspaper!

I don't mind if AP comes back. But I did like Alesha having a "been there, done that" POV on the panel.

If Bruno could tone down some of his wilder Tiggerishness, that's the improvement I'd like to see on the panel.

I'd like to see her back!

I know she was ultra irritating with her lusting and her alliterations - but I did think she had a real handle on the subtleties of dance, and that is something which has gone.

If the show could return to that, I'd really like that.

I also liked the original 4 judges together - I thought the balance of judges worked well back then.

So she'd be welcomed back by me.

Worst. Possible. Choice.

Frankly I'd rather see Alesha back than Arlene.

Yes kind of sad if true as it'll mean she hasn't moved on and has no pride.

I think the show has moved on since Arlene was there.

However I see it as a good move that the BBC are talking to someone with a dance background, shows they might possibly employ a judge who knows something about dancing

if the article is to be believed, a producer for the show has yet to be found come on chaps there's only 7 months before we start the next show

She annoyed me, but she's still better than Alesha. Then again, if they put glitter on a cat turd it would be a better judge than Alesha.

I really can't see it being for her old job as judge - it would basically amount to an admission from the BBC that they made the wrong choice replacing her. Maybe the talks could be for a choreographing/ITT role?

Maybe they are asking Arlene to be producer

I thought it was a daft decision to let Arlene go at the time and had this speculation been a year after she left I would have been happy about it.
However Strictly is now a different show to the one she was a part of and bringing her back now would be a giant stride backwards imo. Alesha stuck it out and in the end made the non-technical judge role just about acceptable whilst the show has become much much bigger, and have to say that now I would rather see another non technical than Arlene. (not that I have anything against Arlene personally).

It's not that I don't like Arlene, but please NO!!

They got rid of her for a reason, let's keep it that way.

What with Bruno letching over the men and Arlene as well ...
no no no no no!!

Let's balance out the panel with some younger expert - or get Arlene and ditch Len for a junior version. Someone with Ballroom/Latin experience would be nice.

Yes the show has changed since Arlene left, but not necessarily for the better. For me, her return would be a step towards getting the old Strictly back.

It's not true (unsurprisingly) according to Arlene:

But why would the BBC want the old SCD back when the new version is a massive success for them?

Arlene is Strictly history - in more ways than one. The show has moved on - whether we like it or not - and I really can't see her playing along with the heavily scripted judges' comments for comedy turns like Widdicombe or Grant. And don't think there won't be more of those contestants ...

The part she used to play has been taken over fully by Craig. They don't need to split that. And, as others have commented, her getting lusty along with Bruno would be unbearable. So she would have no discernible role.

And, personally, I don't think I could face watching if she did come back - not just for all the letching and alliteration - but for the fright that she has turned her face into. I saw her on that musicals show on BBC Four and couldn't believe what she has done to herself. I'm all for older women being represented on television, but that isn't the same as being confronted with people who have had their faces botoxed or lifted so their features no longer look natural. If I want to see monsters, I'll watch Being Human or Doctor Who ...

I wasn't talking about what the Beeb wanted, I was speaking about what I wanted. I accept I'm probably stuck with the revamped version of Strictly but it doesn't stop me wishing for the old days.

I like Arlene; liked her before, during and after, her stint as Strictly judge, but glad - and not in the least surprised - she has denied the claims.

What Strictly needs is another judge, alongside Len, who is from the BB & Latin world and actually understand things like heel turns etc.! It also needs someone to tie Bruno to his chair & tell him to stop acting so ridiculous.

You mean someone who knows what they're talking about and is capable of restoring a bit of dignity to the panel?

It's an interesting idea, but I suspect the beeb might consider it too radical for their taste.
