The 'Mermaid Theatre' see no reason for their 'Star' line-up to change and issued a statement today :

Quote

"Our feeling is that she has made a mistake and she has owned up to it. Everybody has made mistakes.

"It makes no difference to her appearance in the pantomime. She has been billed as the mermaid and that is the role she will play."

Peter Pan producer Paul Elliott, of Qdos Entertainment, said he agreed with the comments made at the weekend that Nadia's "secret will shock her fans - but her frankness will earn their forgiveness" and that she was proof that it is never too late to turn over a new leaf.

"I think that sums it up," said Mr Elliott.

"It happened some time ago. We have all done things in our lives we sometimes regret.

"I have met Nadia and she is a very nice woman."

Ah ... but don't forget - its the big mommies and daddies who pay for their dahling little babies to see the panto ....

Willl they want their children to see Nadia ...... in a role model status

I think not.

Half of this stuff will go completely over young children's heads anyway. Children/Teenagers who are old enough to understand all this can make decisions for themselves.

I'm no fan of Nadia. in fact I don't care one way or the other.............but has anyone else had a twinge of huh-huh about this Mermaid thing............

Given her past, is it not a bit iffy to portray her as sexless from the waist down, ...........is she going to be the 'butt' of nudge-nudge jokes ?

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

What, becuase she has done something bad in her past?

Of course, no one else in the entertainment business has ever done anything 'naughty'.

Well, in this instance her past is liable to influence her present. Many producers would be wary of having her working with children in the future, for example - those who do almost always have to give at least the appearance of being, and having been, clean cut - and advertisers may not want to have a former prostitute being connected in the public mind with their goods. So that's two lucrative angles out the window, for a start.

If she was one of the Noel Gallaghers or Madonnas of this world, she could get away with it - but tea time light entertainment and family style shows can be a different matter. No-one is saying it's fair, but there are dozens of examples of professionals being shunned out of the industry, for doing much less.

Which leaves the sub-Eurotrash type stuff, and the hope that plenty of hard work and talent might lead to a more mainstream rehabilitation - it's a pretty long shot.
