My little Bella died this evening :(
Feeling absolutely heartbroken right now as my little 1.5 yr old cat Bella passed away earlier
![]() We were told last year that she had a really serious heart problem and we couldn't get her spayed or anything, and she had to have all these expensive scans. The vets said she probably wouldn't live a long life so it was always in the back of our mind that she could go anytime. But we came home tonight noticed she was all wobbly, and then she collapsed, poo'ed herself and within about 10 mins she was dead The noise she was making was horrible tho, like she was screaming - I had to leave the room. And she was gasping for breath, it was absolutely heart wrenching because we knew there was nothing we could do for her. I'm just glad it was over fairly quick, poor little thing ![]() I've in bits at the moment - I'm not ashamed to admit that when she died I was literally wailing and my parents had to come round to take her body away so they can bury her in their large garden. We still have Bella's sister Sookie but at the moment I just feel so sad, all I can think about is her little body on the floor. I know we gave her the best life we could and she probably lived longer that the vets ever said but its so sad. My husband is devastated too. I've been in tears all evening

My thoughts are with you, its terrible to lose a pet but so young is horrid.
Try and take some comfort in that she knew she was well loved and her short life was spent in a loving home being well cared for by people she loved , many animals are nowhere near so lucky, |

I'm sorry you had to lose your little cat like this, in such a way. As you said, she died quickly. In her short life you gave her a safe, loving environment and that's all you could do. It's completely normal to feel so upset.
I hope your other cat is okay because she will notice her sister is missing. I'm sure she will give you comfort too. |

I'm so so sorry to hear that, if it's any consolation I am still 'in grief' after my pet dog died last Sunday. It hit me so hard.
I actually have a cat called Bella too. I am sorry you lost her so soon x |

So sorry to hear this, I lost my beloved cat 3 years ago now when he was 15 and the grief I felt was almost unbearable, I couldn't get past his last few hours and kept going over and over it, we knew he was ill and hadn't got long left but you can never be prepared for it.
At the time I said I would NEVER have another cat as the loss was so sad but eventually I succumbed to my daughters pleas to get another pet and now was have Bou who is 2 years old and I adore her too. I know that one day I will go through the same grief again as I am so attached to her but she is so loving and such a joy that I couldn't be without her. There isn't much I can say of comfort as it is something you have to go through but in time it does get easier even if some days that is hard to believe, I can think of my dear old cat with fond memories now rather than those horrendous last few years when he was dying,it will come in time x x |

My cat Sasha passed away this afternoon
I don't know what happened. she was fine this morning, she wasn't ill. after she came in. she went upstairs for a sleep. I found her dead, on my covers
At first I thought someone must have poisoned her, or something. because it was so sudden. But there seems to be no sign of that. I don't understand. she was only 7. which isn't very old. But I guess it must have been just one of those things. I'm keeping my other cat in just in case. I feel terrible. I'm going to miss her so much. I keep thinking she's just going to walk into my room meowing to get her tummy tickled. but i'll never see her again. |

So sorry to hear that, I remember you telling us about Bella. It's so hard to lose a cat, especially one so young as your little one. Thinking of you.
And Flamethrower, that's awful to lose your cat like that. My thoughts are with you too. RIP Bella and Sasha |

My sincerest sympathy to Elainey and Flamethrower, I can understand very well how both of you feel. Last August I had to to have my beloved Darcey put to sleep she was 20 years old I miss her so much she was my best friend. Sadly the year before I had to have her beautiful sister Sophie put to sleep because of renal failure I miss her so much too my son does to. As son as he came home from work she'd be up in his room ready for a fuss then to sit on his bed for the evening.
I've had cats for over 35 years and it doesn't get easier over the years with each passing. I just hold their memories very close. piper |

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Yesterday was really hard, I couldn't face going to work and I just felt so teary from the minute I woke up. But me and hubby spoke alot about the lovely memories we have of her and its got easier. Although it must have drained us both as we were in bed by 1130pm last night (unheard of for us, esp on a weekend!) and we slept solidly until 10am today!!
We are really missing her but it helps having her sis Sookie, and she has been overly affectionate (normally shes a grumpy little bugger!). Remembering lots of funny things about little Bella too - how hubby could never put a glass of water down as she'd try and squeeze her head in to take a sip! And how everytime we sat down for dinner she'd come running in with her little tail wagging like a dog! Bless her, she was such a special little cat and we won't forget her ![]() Here's a pic of her looking cute: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater Flamethrower, sorry to hear about your kitty, message me if you need to chat xxxx |

All I can add really is to go with your feelings, they are all a part of loss af grief, don't let people tell you 'it was only a pet' That annoys me so much as animals as known to relieve stress and usually become the baby of most families so its normal to grieve for them as you would a member of your family. Keep trying to relieve those happy moments when you can x x
Flamethrower - Perhaps if it would put your mind at rest about your other littke cat maybe ring the vet and ask advice, they may be able to put your mind at rest x x |

Aww bless you, this may be sad to some people but I actually took the day off of work on Monday last week because I was so upset. I just couldn't face it, every tear shed was worth it for my little dog

Thanks for your words of support everyone. yeh, she was only a cat. But she was a lot more than just some cat to me. I had her for seven years, she was part of my life. it seems so weird that just a 2 days ago she was fine. still a very lively and playful cat. She was my favourite. because I got her first.
and others can understand. especially people who love animals. But I feel a bit better. I was in shock yesterday because it was so sudden.I have excepted that Sasha is gone, even though I'm still thinking about it. it seems so unfair. But that's life. I don't think she was poisoned. she wasn't sick, or have convulsions. it could have been anything. she didn't seem to have died in pain. she had jumped up at the window in the morning. My other cat is fine. He just seems confused. he must sense something is wrong. I won't be letting him out again. I know it seems cruel. But I can't be sure, that what happened to Sasha wasn't due to something that happened when she was out. I just couldn't bare anything to happen to him too. I buried Sash this morning in the garden. I'm going to collect some rocks to put on the grave. I just thought that I'd get some warning if my cat was going to die. But I guess it was better for her, because she didn't suffer. and if there was something seriously wrong with her I wouldn't have been able to do anything anyway. not in time to save her. Joey's getting annoyed because I keep waking him up to check he's alive. I might get another cat or maybe not, if I do it won't be for a while. it won't replace sasha, but having animals is worth it, even with the pain of losing them. The good memories of her are beginning to replace the sadness I felt at going to stroke her and finding her dead. It wasn't a pleasant experience. But I'll get through it. |
