Thomson DVD Player

I recently purchased a Thomson DTH5200 DVD Player .
I was going to buy either a Toshiba 210E or a Sony DVP-300
but I went for the Thomson in the end.
I received a Years free DVD rentals with it ,i.e 1 free DVD rental a week for a yr.
Does anyone else have this type of player ?
Is it any good ?
I have it connected up to my 32 inch Sony Widescreen.
The CD playback is very good as is the picture.
I have found that the volume level for the DVD's is much lower than the Audio CD's and indeed that of Sky Digital and my Terrestrial feed.
I have overcome this by increasing the volume offset, bass and treble, and it is now much better.
Does anyone know if this is normal for a DVD player or is this a slight fault ?

I find my Sony DVD player often seems a bit quieter and films are often hard to get the levels right. I think unless it is very much lower, then there isn't likely a problem.

The Thomson DVD player can easily be remote hacked for multi region playback. These players are based on a Samsung design which has proven to be quite reliable. It is certainly a lot better built than many of the lower cost DVD players out there.
