Right, recently picked up a 4S while my S2 is away being repaired with a smashed screen and its ok apart from one thing.......

Is there any way to turn off the bloody app store asking me for a password every single time i download an app either paid or free?

It getting right on my tits now..

it keeps you logged in for a while, then it will log you out for security,

But, i must ask, why a 4S? why not a cheaper option whilst you wait for your S2 to come back?

or an attempt to start a fanboy war?

Security. You'd soon been moaning if you had no security on it and you lost it and the bozo who found it downloaded shit loads and got debits from your card

It takes a few seconds to input and will only ask when you wish to download...it's not like you're downloading apps all day, every day is it

Well to be honest, its my money and if i want to buy one i shall.

And no, no attempt at a fanboy war, but youve made a good attempt there

Like i say, security on free apps? Actually when you get the phone, yes you will be downloading apps all day for a few days so inputting it every single time for free apps is a royal pain in the arse. I do see from googling its an annoyance to many people.

Anyway, thanks for the answers...

Settings>General>Restrictions (need to set up a code)>scroll down to "Require Password" and set how often you wish to enter a password. But you can't differentiate between free and paid apps.

As I have kids I have it set to always ask for a password for every purchase and have disabled in-app purchases. I don't want to be one of those donkeys who moans about having a £1500 app store bill.

I agree I would also like free apps to not require a password, it doesn't annoy me as much as you but it is a minor irritation.
