For the last 3 or four days, my Humax has failed to record some programmes in the recording schedule. Now it is failing on them all. I have noticed that when pressing the 'i' button on the channel which is supposed to record, the info/listing for the previous programme is still showing. Inother words, the current programme is not shown as starting. This has been happening on BBC1, ITV1, and Channel 4. The only way to get that to change is to go off channel and change back again.

Going into the listings, the 'receiving programme information' never goes off.

I have done a factory reset, but still no change. Do any of you more techie and knowledgable people out there have any suggestions?

many thanks

I had problems with EPG not finishing refreshing and losing options on recording SD/HD etc.and some failed recordings.

I had the box replaced under warranty but in hindsight I think the dish had gone slightly out of alignment and was sometimes losing the EPG data from Eurobird 1, which carries the FreeSat EPG. It was only slightly out and virtually all the channels from the Astra satellites 2A, 1N etc. were still receivable. Is there a chance that the dish could have moved or been moved accidentally out of perfect alignment? Worth checking or getting someone else to check?

Thanks for getting back fingerstoo. Much appreciated. It may well be worthwhile me having the dish checked out though it seems unlikely to me (mind you, that isn't saying much!) that the dish has moved. I have clear sight of it from a bedroom.

I think mine wil now be out of warranty (bought 30.12.2008) so I am hoping you suggestion or any other insight on this will rectify.

Check to see if you can receive Vintage TV on channel 515. This is on one of the weakest Eurobird transponders. If you can receive that without break-up, your dish should ok.

Next try channel 999 (the Freesat info channel), which shares the same transponder as the Freesat EPG.

Chris.

Hmmm...... Sounds suspiciously like a problem with the Humax Box to me unless others have had similar problems on other freesat PVR's..
My Humax has barely missed a beat in the last 12 months of use but last weekend decided to stop recording Emmerdale omnibus on ITV3, has also only recorded 2 minutes of coronation street on Thursday and only started recording Take me out after it returned from the 1st ad break... Unless I've missed some other fails.. Apart from Emmerdale, these have all been on ITVHD (Emmerdale ITV3) So could point to a problem with them not sending the correct info out..

Today I had the live footy fail on ITV1 HD, the athletics start late on BBC HD and the African Nations footy only start three minutes late when I stopped playing the FA Cup footy recording on ITV1 HD. Meanwhile other recordings on BBC1 HD and BBC HD have recorded correctly.

Thanks for your suggestions Chris. It picks up both those channels, so it looks like the dish is ok I guess.

Interestingly, afterd doing this, just as I was trying to give the remote back to the other half, I pressed the guide button to get back to where she was and the whole thing froze, with the message 'recieiving programme information' So I had to switch off and on from back.

Jaffboy151 and Gomezz thanks for getting back on this. I'd lke to clutch at straws and think it was a 'their end' programming glitch rathr than my box going on the blink. Just strange that there are no more reported recording failure in that case.

KDH I almost reassured to know it's not just happening with me.

Could this be a regional thing guys (don't laugh a non-techie off the stage!)? I'm East Mids near Waltham

I will be power-cycling before I go to bed tonight and may make it a weekly event. This would not be the first time Humax have had a memory-leak problem which is one possibility that explains these seemingly random occurences.

Is that where you switch off and unplug for 5 minutes Gomezz? I think I'll give it a try, though I thought the factory restore might cover it.

I set the Football League show to record last night .................this morning it's there in the media library OK ..................odd............will report back if further problems .
Seems like a problem with the "start" signals from the EPG to me......we'll see?

I too have problems recording with my Humax.

Some recordings have been failing for me on ITV HD since Friday evening. It started with Coronation Street.

Last night I set some ITV recordings to test the box, only Jonathan Ross worked.

Other channels for me seem to be recording OK.

Two humax boxes failed to record shows over the weekend here in the East Mids. Power cycle seems to have resolved it

On January 15 my Humax PVR failed to record 5 programmes - presumably it failed on the first and then went into a hold position waiting for that one to start although regular viewing was possible. I didn't notice it until the next day. They were The Royal Bodyguard (mid-afternoon) series record on BBC1 EM *, Call the Midwife series record BBC1 NE&C, and 3 movies on various channels. Fortunately I could use iPlayer for the 2 series and one of the films was repeated later in the week so it wasn't a complete disaster. Never had anything like this before or since although in the past I have had non-series recordings disappear from the Schedule after having used non-freesat mode. Also, as indicated * above, although my 'home' BBC1 region is NE&C the Humax programmed the East Midlands feed even though they are both Vertical transponders so no conflict presumably. Odd.

one of the recordings i was trying to make from itv1HD also failed. My signal is uber strong on all channels even the Vintage TV channel. This doesnt happen very often.......

the last time it happened was with the BBC News channels, Click prog - this was some time ago. It wouldnt record it - broken recording icon. I set it to record the repeats as well and they all failed. But, having set the box to record several different things, it was only the Click prog that wouldnt record. When a week passed and the new ep of Click started, the box recorded that with no problems. So the fault was isolated to that one ep of Click (and its repeats).

seems many other people are having issues, not heard of anyone else other then Humax users that are having trouble, bit it does seem to largely be around the ITV1HD Channel, will try and turn mine off for a few minutes and see if I have any further problems.. No problem with dish alignment here, ultra strong signals even on the eurobird stuff like vintage tv..

I've been having the same problem, and always with ITV1HD. For the past week it has failed to record everything on this channel but other recordings are unaffected.

I also noticed the other night that the details on the info button didn't match the programme being shown.

I've checked Vintage TV and the Freesat information channel and these work fine although with admittedly low signal strength (about half way into the amber zone on the bottom line of the info button details.) The picture on Vintage TV doesn't block at all.

I've had the box since May 2009 and it's never let me down before so it's very curious.

I've also reset the box to factory settings but this hasn't fixed the problem.

Not lost any ITV1-HD recordings for a long time (Granada version)

Current schedule

Dancing On Ice, Wild At Heart, Emmerdale, Coronation St, Cornwall with CQ, Eternal Law, Law & Order UK, and Take Me Out.

I had a problem Thursday night. It should of been recording Eternal law and We'll Take Manhattan. The main display was on so I thought it was recording but when I put the box fully on it flashed a conflict warning (despite there being only two recordings scheduled and I have twin LNB) - didn't read the message as it flashed off too quickly and it then started recording both programs 50 minutes in. Both recordings were useless of course and if I hadn't turned it on no doubt it would not have recorded them at all. Smells like a glitch of some sort.

Tonight Countryfile failed on BBC1 HD until I switched channels whenit instantly started to record. The same happened for Birdsong on BBC1 HD. The regional news for East Mids on BBC1 also failed completely (I didn't get to switch channels to 'force it') and ITV HD programme schedule just does not keep up - a quarter of an hour ago, pressing the 'i' button informed from programme guide that we were watching a programme that finished 2 hours ago. It's like scedule recording isn't prompted by the programme guide and the guide itself has to be forced to move on. Very strange.

Incidentally, I unplugged the whole thing completely last night. Can't think of anything else to do this end.

Dancing on Ice was set tonight and the box was in standby. I saw it come on shortly before the programme started as normal. When I came to start watching the programme later it wasn't recording. When I changed channel it then began to record. It was as if the schedule had got "stuck" and changing channel refreshed it.

It does seem a strange problem and the box is otherwise behaving normally and only seems to affect ITV1HD.

Sounds like we are having very similar problems linuxbeds - and I notice we are from different parts of the country. Just wondering if there are more people out there who are experiencing similar failures. I would have thought more would be coming on here if that were case to highlight/checlout the issue.
