Yes having similar problems here (East Anglia). ITV HD recordings failing, combining, or extra long. The schedule seems "confused" as the recordings on ITV HD sometimes appear as two recordings, causing BBC1 recordings to fail.

For example this evening we had

ITV HD set for 6:45 Dancing on Ice, 8:30 Wild at Heart, 9:30 Dancing on Ice Results

plus BBC1 HD 8:00 The Midwife

we got .......

Dancing on Ice - Fail
Wild at Heart & Dancing on Ice as one combined recording called Wild at Heart
The Midwife - Fail

The other night Take Me Out was 194m long (as if it wasn't long enough already!)

Very similar problems here in South West Wales - 'Dancing On Ice' started to record but stopped at some point.

As far as the ads and local news goes, I am getting a feed for the Midlands (although my postcode was entered correctly). If that is the same for all ITV 1 HD viewers, I guess our location makes no difference?

Possibly one (or more) transponder isn't sending the relevant EPG data/start triggers (this has to be carried on each transponder for Accurate Recording to work) or is sending it but it's corrupted somehow.

I guess those having issues happen to have had their box tuned to that problematic transponder, the likelihood of which will depend on viewing habits and/or postcode setup of the box.

Another DOI fail here, Midlands region, switched on box to watch DOI in catchup, it only started to record when I switched channel, although box was out of standby. Also failed on the DOI results prog.

Pretty certain this is the first problem with the Hummy since getting it on launch day.

Dancing On Ice recorded fine on my Foxsat-hdr using Manchester postcode. Two recordings Main Show 108min and Results 31Minutes. Both set using series recording that hasn't been altered since show 1.

Could it be the failed recordings are all ITV1-HD London.

Another possibility? I am normally in the habit of leaving my Foxsat tuned to BBC1 HD when I put it in standby but have been careless of doing that over the past few days when I have had problems and have left it on ITV3/ITV4 and goodness knows what else. Could that have an influence?

It sounds like all these problems are related. I'm wondering if there has been a change to the EPG data which has exposed a bug.

That thought had occured to me. Getting the buggers to admit owt though is another matter.

Just to add my very similar experiences. I had Dancing On Ice and Wild at Heart set up on series record from ITV1 HD. Also the CH4HD film "The Ghost" which was concurrent. I ended up with only a few minutes of Wild at Heart, and "The Ghost" started recording during the first break, i.e. about 15 minutes late. I fixed that with manual recording of the first 15 mins from CH4+1, as I spotted it in time.

I'm in the Meridian North region, so on Freesat, ITV1 is Meridian South (as N is encrypted) and ITV1HD is London. What's unusual about these failures is that 3 consecutive programmes on ITV1HD were being recorded (D on Ice, Wild at H and D on Ice Results), the CH4 programme start being during this. Perhaps the box can't handle this situation properly?

I had another weirdness though, also related to ITV1 HD. The box was on this channel for viewing on Saturday, and I tried to set up a recording on another channel using the EPG (nothing was recording at the time). However, I got the "waiting for receiving programme information" message. (or whatever bad English it is!) However this was using Schedule + Red and NOT Guide. This applied to whatever channel or programme I selected. I waited several minutes but it was the same. I then changed channel to 101 manually and it all worked normally.

So is seems likely there is something odd about ITV1 HD London. We watch the local news on BBC1 & ITV (SD) so switching regions isn't an option.

Hi. I have had my freesat box for just a few weeks but have also noticed a "failed to record" situation and I wonder if there is a software fault that occurs when a series record reaches the end of a series. Normally after it records an episode it deletes the setting for that day and sets up a new one for the next episode. But if the series has ended altogether then it cannot set up the next scheduled episode as there isn't one - and it then seems unable to delete the setting for the last episode just recorded. This setting which is now for an episode in the past seems to block the Humax from recording the next programmes on its list. I have to spot it quickly and delete the now redundant setting for that last episode and the Humax then resumes recording other set programmes as normal.

PS - Thankyou BBC for triggering the recording of the Australian Tennis Final to stop five games from the end. Freesat "plus" is great when it works but after watching five hours of this memorable game I was not amused to miss the ending.....

Top tip: For live sport which is prone to overruning of which no better example than tennis do not rely on accurate recording but change the recording to a manual one and extend the end time by for several hours. And if it is a Murray semi then set another timer on the other BBC channel for when they switch coverage halfway through.

A PVR has no way of knowing that a series has ended. There maybe a break of more than a week before the next episode is due ( Grand Prix for instance). Hence the reservation remains for 13 weeks before it is auto deleted (Freeview/Freesat specification) . If you delete manually you will miss the next in the series - if there is one.

This behaviour has no effect on other scheduled recordings.

Just to update: The Midwife recording was not a full fail (despite the message on screen) and in fact recorded the last half hour of the programme. This coincides with the end of the first DOI programme. Very strange.

No proplem with BBC1 you can put whatever BBC region you want at 101 whatever postcode you use (Customise channels).

Dancing on Ice on ITV HD London Series Linked failed to start on time for us... missing the first duel (and explanation of the duel process). My guess is the first 15 mins approx was missing?

Midwives BBC1 HD also started late for us (45min / 60 min recorded)... so we watched it on iPlayer instead.

Great function as I have a series record set for Taggart ITV3 and there is often 4 weeks between these (repeat) episodes. Haven't lost one yet.

Might it be that ITVHD London has fault with EPG AND a timer set on EPG when tuned into ITVHD will fail even if set for a different channel.?...........If you see what I mean?

Just got home from work and checked, have Failed recording message 0 min length

What is happening!, I will have to resort to my toppy.

I set a number of test recordings for ITV HD today and they have all failed.

Recordings set for BBC 1 HD and Channel 4 HD have recorded without a problem.

Freesat are aware of this thread and tell me they are looking into it with Humax and also seeing if there was a problem with the programme info.

Whatever the issue hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Me too for the tests. Same results, all failed on HD. Did a full power off and tried a mix of SD and HD tests. Waiting to see how they go.

Until we get a proper fix, looks like I'll be moving to Manchester

For those severely affected, changing from Auto in Record Start/End Time to using manual padding on the Humax (i.e. go into Menu, Settings, Recording) would almost certainly work around the problem though with the obvious loss of Accurate Record. (Also not sure how the Humax handles back-to-back recordings with padding etc.)

(Although as the post above indicates, if it is ITV-1 HD London only causing this, then changing the postcode is probably a bit more practical workaround)

Just to add a bit more data, I get ITV-1 HD London but didn't have any failures over the weekend - but then I don't generally watch that channel or record from it, and certainly didn't this weekend.

Yea same problem here, had to just record manually on ITV1+1 just ignored the set recording, missed start of both CS and Eastenders tonight on ITV HD and BBC1HD respectively, recorded Ski Sunday on BBC2 yesterday just fine

Reconfigured the Humax for Granada and set some test programmes whilst I was at work today. It recorded them all perfectly. Looks like some kind of bug with ITV1HD for London.
