I have to say, I was really put off her by the whole SCD thing. Arlene was treated so badly and, while I know it wasn't Aleesha's decision, she was quite happy to dance on Arlene's grave.
TBH she was offered the role? Why would you turn such a job down?

She is common as muck, brash and inarticulate - so I suppose she'll fit right in with the BGT demographic.

It means if that doesn't work, nothing else will.

She's far too wooden to be majorly liked.

Won't stop Cowell trying to ram her down the public's throat though.

Expect performances on all of his shows.

Comon she isn't that bad?

She speaks well when ever i have heard her interviewed. Maybe you are talking about a different person!

No offence but how the hell will appearing in a music video, make you a star? It is not like she was singing or anything? So I don't know how you can knock Alesha with that.

I'd actually prefer to see her on TV than quite a few of the "more talented" individuals that I can think of, because her infectious personality is more likely to leave me enjoying the show. As another poster said, if anything, I just hope more success wouldn't change her.
I agree with this, loved her on alan carr letting her hair down but then I like Amanda Holden as well which im not sure is allowed on this board.

Yeah only bad thing for her is that she will be completely controlled by cowell. If he gets bored of her, unless she has made it huge, she will be left like cole to do it her own way.

She probably thinks its a risk worth taking. Not exactly set the charts alight on her own and Cheryl did pretty well out of it while it lasted. Too good an opportunity to turn down really

Some of the venom on this thread is quite uncalled for to be honest. The girl's done nothing to offend any of you personally and she's actually a really down to earth person with a musical talent. I wish her luck, she's an absolute gem.

I like her myself. She's done a few documentaries and I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were - especially one on domestic violence for the BBC. There is definitely a lot more to her than many people are willing to give her credit for. The idea of being a "big star" is overrated with the way showbiz is now - it's enough to continue to have decent opportunities that at least pay the bills and at the very least she seems to be practical with her earnings. Good luck to her.

What venom?

Absolute gem is a bit too far. That's what I would say about someone like Beyonce.

Alesha Dixon won't be either. This is about as famous as she can get.
Alesha's profile will be boosted a LOT by doing this every year. As long as she carries on doing this, her profile will be right up there.

Alesha's a nice lass. I hope that she gives as good as she gets though. I wish Alesha a lot of luck with this opportunity.

You can't say that. Bgt may not be all that this year especially with the voice coming at the same time. Also Alesha is too reality IMO. She doesn't have anything else going for her besides licking the a** of cowell.

Cheryl was as well. Alesha's a singer as well. She brought out an album in 2010. Yeah, Cheryl's almost the same as Alesha.

Fair play to her.

There is no doubt that Cowell will promote her to the heavens like he did with Cheryl.

Weather ''Alesha Dixon'; is super talent to warrant all that is another story.

How do you know? Not saying she isn't but you can't say something like that unless you know her.

Being wooden didn't stop Cheryl Cole from becoming popular. Alesha is less wooden and bland than Cheryl imo. She's much funnier in interviews.

I dont dislike Alesha, but she's not Cheryl Cole in relation to a pop career. Shes older, less connected to the younger generation & her pop career hasnt been awnyway near as successful as Cheryls.

This will be a Cowell shaped "blip" in popularity for her, delaying the inevitable transformation into presenter/reality show regular that has been her fate ever since she took the judging role on SCD.

The idea that her career will be transformed because of the Cowell/BGT connection is absurd, for these reasons.

A. BGT is tired, its seen as the downmarket little brother of the more popular X-Factor.
B. Britain is gradually falling out of love with Cowell. There will always be the true believers for sure, but most are wise to the fact that theyre being manipulated now.
C. Alesha's pop career has been on the wane for some time now. In fact Id pretty much say she was finished before she was on SCD. After the show & her win there was a temporary revival in interest in her as a pop artist but this pretty quickly faded away. Whos to say this wont happen again.
D. With Cowell, the process of being a judge can be just as much of a sausage factory as the process of being one of his acts. If you dont excel, you;re out.

... dont get me wrong, Alesha will have a big revival in her popularity, but it wont have much longevity...

Exactly what i think. She is no way old, not at all. I hate ageism, but to be honest i just read that she is 33. No way old, but if you haven't made it in music by that age, it does make things hard, especially when she has been in the business for a long time.

When Cheryl Cole was being marketed and thrown at us she was in her mid 20's?
