Wirelessly connecting a LG BD660 3D Blu Ray Player

I have a LG 47LW550T Smart 3D tv it is connected via a Lg Wireless dongle to my Netgear router ( The router is located to far from the TV to connect via a Ethernet cable,it works fine,no problems

I have now purchased a LG BD-660 3D Ready Blu-ray Disc/DVD Player that I also want to connect to the WWW , it is located under the Lg tv so to far to connect via Ethernet

So I need to connect via a Dongle

The Instructions state

Quote:
“"Wireless Network Connection

If a wired connection is not possible, use a wireless network adaptor to connect to your existing wireless home network.
If you want to set the wireless network connection, a USB typed wireless network adaptor must be connected to the USB port on the rear panel.
The compatible wireless network adaptor can be purchased from the dealer that you have purchased this player or nearest LG service center.
Compatible Wireless Network Adaptor
Model Name : AN-WF100 "”

Now I have a AN WF100 which I use for my Tv,however there is only 1 usb connection on the front of the BR player and none on the rear and when I use the TV dongle it cant find the wireless connection,it only comes up with the wired option, which I have not got ,

Again this from the instructions, seems to suggest it should offer an option of hard wired or wiresless, but it doesn't
Quote:
“" 2. The [Connection Setting] menu appear on the screen. Use W/S to select [Wireless] and press ENTER ".”

is it because both the TV and the BR player need connecting and I need a 2nd LG dongle or the BR only works via an Ethernet cable and the instructions are pants

Thanks for any help

You must have a really big house if your router is more than 100m from your telly! That's about how far you can run ethernet before it starts playing silly games.

Anyway, unless the UK LG website is telling porkies there is no mention at all in the manual for this player about wireless networking. Link on this page

http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product...oduct-profile#

And no sign of a rear USB port in the pictures of the device either. In fact the word "wireless" only appears once in the entire manual, referring to using an iPhone or Android mobile to remote control it.

So I am a tad confused here.

I meant the ethernet cable i currently have is only about a metre long, so its much to short and I prefer the wireless option rather than the wired connection the router is in the conservatory and the tv and the BR is in the main lounge 60 foot away

The instruction booklet supplied with my BR player is for a BD 650 so not really much use for my BD 660 which I own and the reasons its at odds with the info you looked up

Looks like its a wired connection only

Cheers

If running a cable is not something you want to do then a couple of alternatives spring to mind.

You could use a wireless access point that plugs into the ethernet port on the BD player and effectively converts it to wireless. Or you could use a pair of HomePlug units to connect the player to the router via the mains.
