The Duel Twist

IIRC They will be skating in pairs tonight, and whoever gets the judges thumbs up will be immune from potentially going into the skate off?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks for letting me know the time that dancing on ice starts tonight. How do they decide on the new twist what two pairs face each other as some celebrities are stronger skater than others but you would want to lose the best skaters either ???

I think this twist was made so that the weaker skaters would be put in the skate-off.

I still hold on the hope there will be a double-elimination at some point...there's too many skaters left in.

I'm just guessing as I am just as in the dark about this twist

Hopefully Pip will explain it better when the show gets underway

Stupid twist.

Matt VS Jorgie will be the one that everyone is watching. It could easily go either way.

Evening all, thanks for the thread Richie

Not sure I quite get the point of this 'twist' yet but will shut up until they explain more about it on the show. I suppose it guarantees that some of the weaker acts will be immune?

Evening everyone!

My prediction for tonight:
Jorgie vs. Matthew - Jorgie immune.
Andy vs. Rosemary - Andy immune.
Heidi vs. Charlene - Heidi immune.
Jennifer vs. Sebastien - Sebastien immune.
Chico vs. Sam - Chico immune.
Corey vs. Chemmy - Chemmy immune.

Matthew, Jennifer and Sam will more than likely get through on the public vote.

I think Rosemary may just scrape through too, leaving a Charlene vs. Corey skate off. Corey eliminated.

Tonight's going to be a complete mess isn't it?

Whatever. All I care about is that Sam avoids the skate off.

The 'twist' sounds amazing......

They skate in pairs, based on last weeks leaderboard, and then the judges decided out which of the two was best and should go straight through to next week? Riveting and not at all more padding out.

Hmmm... I worry for Sam tbh... Rosemary is clearly getting some form of big vote for being a bit older, Corey I tihnk is going to amass some sort of cult following so could well be safe. And Charlene could well get a vote bounce due to being bottom 2.

I mean we could end up with a Sam vs Jen Skate Off

Evening all, and thanks for the thread richie.

I'm not sure what to make of the thread. I think some are already decided - Jorgie, Heidi and Chemmy will be saved whatever IMO as Matthew should be secure in the public vote and they wouldn't mind Corey or Charlene going.

Cynical, moi?

They're actually sharing the ice? That's a stupid idea.

Agreed and without sounding cynical a desperate measure after last week's poor ratings?

Rosemary clearly has a fanbase, like you said, because she's been near the bottom both weeks, and survived. However, with only six up for the public vote, people may think she isn't as worthy as the others.

I agree that there's a risk with Corey going through, but I can only see him beating Rosemary and/or Charlene in the vote. Rosemary vs. Charlene wouldn't be too bad but the only good result will be Corey vs. anyone with Corey going home, in my opinion.

And the fact it's a sign of an overall decline as show 2 dipped from show 1 as well.

No judges marking the couples either? I like the judges marking the couples!

Yes, or the other way around it means that the middling acts are more vulnerable as as half the weakest will be immune and you can still be the people above the bottom two and in the danger zone even if you are quite good. Its dumb. If there's no marking either who stays will just come down to the public vote and that will have people not voting for who.should be safe and people who vote for whoever is bottom. And who wins the duel is entirely dependant on the choregraphy and then the judges.
