Multivitamins for nails
I have always had poor nails and, despite using OPI's Nail Envy / Avoplex, they do not seem to be improving. A friend suggested I try a multivitamin. Has anyone else taken MVs and, if so, did it achieve the desired effect?
Thanks. |

Nails
Hi Louise, I have awful nails. I take multi vits, folic acid, vit B, omega 3-6-9 oil and full strength vit C. Believe me NONE of these work for nails & don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Save your money !

I always had really strong nails, grew quickly and were always long and beautiful. Then all of a sudden they went very dry and brittle and kept splitting down. I take multi vitamins, cod liver oil high strength and garlic capsules daily and had not changed my diet. I now buy the thick, more expensive vitamin E oil from Holland and Barret and rub it into my nails every night without fail. Result, now my nails feel better and seem to be back to normal.
I do have a theory about this sudden problem with nails that so many people seem to be having, even though they have always had lovely nails in the past. I am wondering if there is something in liquid soap products that is causing the dryness. I have switched to using Occitane liquid soap for quite a while now and since then the problem has eased. There was something else that upset my nails again. We went on a cruise and everywhere on the ship there are the anti bacterial sprays to help keep virus problems off the ship. When we returned my nails felt dry and were splitting again. I had even been rubbing in the Vitamin E oil whilst on the cruise too. Could it be the anti bacteria substance in the liquid soap that is causing the problems. |

This is the first time I've heard of Nail Envy and Avoplex not working.
How often do you use them? What's your routine like? Do you have a job or lifestyle that isn't particularly kind to your hands? |

To the letter, I use it as Julie and Lisa recommend on QVC. I still wouldn't be without it, especially the avoplex oil. It is so mult-functional. I use it on chapped hands. Even if the nail envy isn't actively helping my nails, it isn't harming them, I don't think. Although they are breaking quite regularly. My nails are pretty weak.

Very high doses of Vitamin D have helped but not as good as I like. My nails are better in the summer.
They were better in Scotland - the hard water is so drying If you are prone to getting kidney stones you have nails like rock! I'd rather have brittle nails |
