I guess once the iPad gets saturated in its winning 'couch potato' market it will then also 'transform'.”

I don't particularly get this - I find using mine one handed absolutely fine, however out of curiosity I just plugged a mouse into it and a pointer immediately appeared on the screen and it worked.

So no reason that they shouldn't work with a stick, but given this is the first time I've seen someone ask about it I suspect the demand isn't there...

Samsung will according to rumours reveal their new 11.6" tablet at the MWC. The tablet is rumoured to have a 2GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 chip and a Ultra high resolution screen. This wont be cheap, but is a beast of a tablet if rumours prove to be correct.

It might well be a Windows tablet. Windows needs to headline with something different. And 'leader' Samsung would probably get the OS for close to free.

I cannot find the Motorola Xoom anywhere for less than £330. This despite the fact that a lot of places are selling it alongside the Xoom II, with very little difference in price. I phoned the Carphone Warehouse today, and they only have limited stock, but again at £330.

Got our Xoom at Xmas.
Love it.
Having an Android phone and not wanting to be "handcuffed" to Apple I chose the Xoom.

No regrets except the wait for ICS................................................................................

Exactly why I chose the Xoom. Incidentally, I don't know if you like games, but Lair Defense on the Android market is free and has made me a bit of an addict...

(It's not listed on my phone's Android Market - only on the Xoom: probably something to do with versions and capabilities. Oh, that's odd - just looked and it says version 1.6 and up and my HTC Wildfire is 2.2 )

I was lucky enough to get one of these a few weeks ago:

Simply the best gadget I have ever bought. Fact.

They are messing people around. It went back down few weeks ago, but that must have lasted a few days only.

Yeah, so thanks for that. Thought I'd have a look and then it was an hour or two later...

FYI it's in the market on my Galaxy S2, no idea why it's not there on your HTC

Not compatible, apparently . As are quite a few apps on the cheapo HTC Wildfire.

Sorry to have taken so much time out of your life.

I'm sure quite a few asked also about an iPad type device back in 2005.

It would be quite natural to have the pointing stick on the rear of the tablet. It would certainly be of much benefit on the iPhone for anyone with bionic eyesight.

Anyone got any thoughts on the ViewSonic ViewPad 7X & the Archos 80 G9 ?? The read up on the argos site says the ViewPad comes with a Micro-SIM card tray which implies that it can have a 3G connection. Dont know if this is a misprint coz i don't see anything on the Viewsonic website.

What about the Archos 80 G9 is it a good tablet?? comes with a 3G Stick [bought seperate] Are these brands any good!!

No idea about the ViewSonic but Archos have a reasonable reputation and I seriously considered the 80 G9 or 101 G9 late last year. Eventually went up a cost level and have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 which I can't complain about. However as there are 3 users and 1 tablet in the family we may well be getting a more 'budget' second tablet in which case I will return to the Archos models.

cheers Assa2 need a tablet for a family member. Difficult too choose one between the Toshiba AT100/BB Playbook and those 2 above. Does anyone know if a 3G Dongle will work ok on the Toshiba or does it need rooting 1st??

from having an archos great features does everything, however after going through 4 of g9 80s 2 had screen ripple when holding the back, problem with batch 1s, though argos have the newer batches, number 3 just stopped working, and number 4 pulled the usb out and it brought all the housing out and wouldnt charge again. Shame did everything i wanted as well, the build quality is shocking in my opinion. maybe i was just unlucky.

also be aware they have just released similar models with higher processor speeds.

i have got myself a blackberry playbook instead what a difference a few cons comparing to the archos, no sd card slot, smaller screen, fewer apps currently, no 3g if you want that feature. apart from that its light years apart and at 169 pcw its a steal

I would still seek out the advent vega if you can find out. Crazy steal at £130 but event around the £180 to £200 mark they are awesome once you have put on a decent ROM.

I have an Advent Vega, running VegaICS Alpha, and I agree. However, you need to be content with the fact that the screen isn't very good. Even compared to the likes of the Blackberry Playbook, the screen is murky, dark and has terrible viewing angles.

I have to say that I don't find it too bad. Viewing angle is not great but when viewed head on I don't have any problems with sharpness of display or its brightness.

Got my XOOM a week ago. Love it, and looking forward to seeing how much better it might be with 'ics'

Objectively it is fine, but the greater resolution on other devices show up the lack of sharpness on the Vega.
