Android default email app - help!

How can I bulk-delete the messages in the Rubbish Bin? I have hundreds and can only see how to delete them one at a time. There is also no 'clear on exit' setting.

Same goes for the sent folder, though I only have a few in there.

(This is Motorola Xoom if it's specific.)

Only way I have found is to delete the email account and set it up again.

What I do now is send everything through to gmail, its easy to set up but not so fast at picking them up. However at leat you can empty the bins etc via gmail in a browser.

I tried to set up gmail, but I was only able to set up my googlemail.com account, not my "proper" email address.

In any case, it's only there for convenience so I can pick up emails when I'm not on my main PC. I leave messages on the server both on my Xoom and my phone, and only clear them when I read on my PC, where all my email is filed.

But it is a serious problem with that email app that a lot of people have complained about - perhaps they will fix it in ICS (though I don't hold out much hope). The setting to Bcc my default account when I send from the Xoom is also missing - my phone's app has that facility.

When you're in the Trash (or Sent) folder, press menu, then delete, then menu again, and select mark all.

The only item in the Menu is Account Settings. Maybe you're talking about Android phones? (I have no problem with my HTC Wildfire - it's only the Xoom.)
