If the NME Awards are indie? Why so bitter as to include Gaga In worst categories?

I'm really pissed off about this!

I'm all for awards that dedicate to a special genre. I'm not a big fan of it and only like some artists that are nominated.

But WHY include artists from the pop industry who are deemed to be very talented such as Lady Gaga as Villain Of The Year and for Worst Album.

That is pure bitterness for the pop industry. If you're not going to support the pop industry then don't include them in the nominations simple.

Gaga is 10 times more successful than any of those nominated artists anyway...

Haters are gonna hate.

Hopefully all the NME staff end up under a bus one day...soon!

10 times more successful than Adele?

Maybe people are bored by her attention seeking.

Well, they gave their "worst album" 8/10 about nine months ago, so.

Yes. Gaga is more successful.

Adele has only found real success with her latest album.

If you want play with numbers. Gaga i believe has sold more records as a whole.

And i wouldn't class it as attention seeking, just a form of expression that people find it difficult to comprehend.

NME, I wouldn't use that magazine to wipe my own ass.

I don't even like Gaga that much, I just dislike NME.

I'm not even a fan of Lady Gaga, but NME is the kind of 'indie kid' who you see in an indie club, looking so 'indie' and 'unique' that they look and think identical to their fellow 'indie kids'. All style, no substance (ironic considering I'm guessing that's the reason for their 'hating' on LG).

The OP should chill the hell out. It's the NME awards, they count for pretty much nothing and have no real importance in the music world. And no, I'm not a Gaga fan trying to stick up for her. I couldn't be further from a fan if I tried.

Sadly for Lady Gaga I think the tide is turning on her the same way it did the Spice Girls. In 1996 The Spice Girls were being hyped, adored and loved by every music magazine, spokesperson etc yet come late 1997 all this changed and suddenly all those who had been supporting the girls switched and started to hate. I think Gaga is in the same position now.

I actually hate Lady Gaga (as most of you have probably realized now lol).

But NME is AWFUL. It's just pathetic. I hate it so much. When you read the comments on their site, the readers just come across as the most miserable people I've ever seen. All they can do is look at the past, all they can do is criticize everybody that doesn't play a guitar.

And I hate how they hate everything that's urban or pop related, but are backing Tyler, the Creator and Lana Del Rey at the moment?!? If they like Tyler and Lana, why do they hate all the other similar artists to them so much?

The NME Awards still exist?

I'd like to thank the OP for drawing this to my attention, I'll have to go and have a look at who they've nominated now!

So confused that Muse and Coldplay are up for Worst Band ? I thought NME would support
these type of artists. And Beyonce up for Best Video? Aren't they contradicting themselves...

The NME award nominees are chosen by the readers and then the acts that gets the most nominations are then voted for again by the readers. Nothing got to do with the actual NME staff... It seems that NME readers don't like these bands enough for them to want to vote for them as the "worst" bands plus people who generally read NME won't listen to pop music and therefore will have no basis to vote for pop bands as the worst bands..... NME award nominations are often hijacked by fan groups as well!... These awards are a load of crap anyway so I wouldn't really take any notice of them.

Why didn't they inform the Little Monsters? We could have got GaGa in most of the categories, but I suppose NME wanted to sabotage her chances typical!

I get your point but I'm surprised because Coldplay and Muse are not pop. Even Beady Eye are up for worst band.

It seems the nominations are anti-mainstream though.

NME readers tend to be fans of "real" music... Coldplay, Muse, Beady Eye etc. tend to appeal to mass markets but also get airplay on radio/TV that these "real" music fans listen to, so they will vote for the most commercial act that they come into contact with as the "worst" band because it's not "cool" to appeal to the mainstream! .... I'm actually surprised the Florence's X Factor appearances didn't get her a nomination in this category!

Tyler and Lana are Hipster Approved. It's rare you'll see the indie kids listening to Tinie Tempah or Eminem, but they seem to have lapped up Odd Future. Can't say I understand it myself but it seems the types who read NME are more opposed to mainstream music than specific genres themselves.

Get over it and take it with a pinch of salt this is NME as you said a predominantly ''cool'' and indie awards show they are always gonna hate on the pop world just because its the NME and its what they do

Lana is most definately not "hipster" approved if anything she's reviled by them. Just check out the Hipster Runoff and their campaign against her.
