Looking on Android market I can't see much evidence of app developers being discouraged.
Not sure why Sky are taking so much time on this. The likes of BBC iPlayer, ITV player, Netflix, Youtube etc don't seem to have had many problems.

I think it highlights perception of Android; I'm pretty sure that if you loaded it up on most 'unsupported' Android phones it'd work just fine. Sky don't want to worry about getting support calls from 'untested' phones though, as they knocked up the Android port with the help of 1 retired developer in a shed. Well, it's taken so long, I can only presume that's how they did it.

nothing to do with that at all .. if that were the case there would never be a pc version would there.
there has been a sky Italia android app for a while that works fine and is apparently better than iPhone version.
there is a theory that sky and apple have had some exclusive deal in uk which is about to expire.
It is vital for Sky to get onto Android. Ignoring Sky if you factor in that 30% fee it must mean 50% less content for the consumer. It is not the same for Sky but they need a stick to combat that content killing 30% fee.

There's no 30% fee as the iOS SkyGo App is free and requires no in-app purchase.

I'm sure Apple gave them a few $$$ to make them exclusive for as long as it has been. They 'advertise' the iPad along with the app every 5 minutes (I'm exaggerating) and they don't happen to mention it because they love it so much.

Nope not at all, not even a little bit. It's further evidence that android users are still marginalised and that top companies are slow to realise that smartphone does not equate wholly to iPhone.
I know that the OP said that Sky Go will be coming to Android smart phones at the end of Feb and will at first be avalible on Samsung Galaxy and HTC phones.
But please can someone tell me if Sky Go will work on the Samsung Galaxy Ace, Samsung Galaxy Mini and HTC Wildfire S?

I would like it for my tablet but is it right you can only view it on one device and once you use a device, you can't use a different one in the same calendar month?
I can see the strength of not being able to use it simultaneously on 2 devices, but I would like to be able to use it on both my laptop and tablet (at different times).

You can have it registered on 2 devices at the one time, ie xbox and pc or phone and tablet.
You can however only change these devices once a month

Sky Mobile TV is available to Non Satellite Customers but you subscribe separately so the revenue doesn't go anywhere near Apple.

Isn't it the case that you can only change view on one device per calendar month? That would mean if you watched it on a tablet whilst away from home, once you returned home you wouldn't be able to watch it on your second device until the next month.

APPS do get a mention in the media but on the whole users have to seek them out.
However it could be a fair argument that IOS users are more the purchase consumption type.

Sky Go launches on selected Android smartphones this morning, but may take a little while to show in the Market.
You should see it in the next couple of hours, so try checking back then if it doesn't appear when you search.
