Hi there,
Basically I have a community tropical fish tank. There's four angel fish, some loaches, zebra danios and a variety of different tetras. I've had these angel fish about a year now and before now they've not mated.
However, this morning I have noticed them (or one of them at least I'm not sure how they work) "laying" a ton of amber coloured eggs all over my filter. They're are SO many and they're still going.
I have no idea what to do. There's no way they will survive in my tank I doubt and even if they did there's little room for new fish. I was actually planning on finding a new home for the two angels in question anyway as they are getting large.
I guess I'm looking for some advice as I genuinely don't know what to do with these eggs. Do I just leave them alone. I've read the angels will do anything to protect these eggs so I'm worried they may attack my other fish if they percieve them as a threat. I also don't want these eggs to "hatch" and for the little fish to be killed. I know the most obvious thing would be to somehow put them in a new tank alone but I don't have another and I'm a student I definately can't afford to buy one. My mum suggested just "getting rid" of the eggs then finding the angels a new home before they produce more but I would feel like a monster taking their eggs. I'm not sure what to do?
