On my lovely TX-42VT30B it tells me i can record to a usb hdd.
Trouble is i have tried a few and it says unrecognised device but it does say usb device connected when i insert into tv.

Any advice please

As always RTFM. The details are in there p 74 formatting, Different formatting is used more appropriate for streaming stuff. And p 116. Minimum size seems to be 160 GB.
