dvd writer for laptop
What is the best/cheapest dvdwriter to use with a laptop pc . It must be external and preferably usb connection.
Anyone who has used a good online site to purchase could also add info please. |

I'd have a look at what PC Pro magazine has to say - have a look at their 'A List', which they do offer online: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/alist/
Personally, I'd go for a Lacie drive: http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/range.htm?id=10014 |

I use one of these: External Storage 5.25"/3.5" HD/CD/DVD RW Case with USB and Firewire. from here : http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...B_Devices.html
Then just put in any ide dvd writer, a pioneer 108 would be nice, they got them here : http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acata...Section__.html Only takes a few minutes to set up, very easy. Should come to about £80 all in. |

dvd writer
Thanks for both inputs. Both appear to be about the same price. I am using a 4port USB hub with 2 connections in use, do you think I will have any problems adding a third to run a dvd writer. I have only 128M ram.

I think they had a 16x dual layer, dual format DVD writer in Dixons (of all places) for £69.99 when I was in there over the weekend. Liteon, so not the best make but...
