Check this out for a cracking Mobile Deal

http://giffgaff.com/index/offer

The blackberry add on now costs £3 per month which gives full access to blackberry services.

A goodybag starts at £10 per month which gives 250 mins, unlimited texts and data.

Unlimited means unlimited, no fair usage caps with Giff Gaff.

The downside is, you cannot ring customer services.

A great offer, I use GG myself. Without doubt the GG bashers will be along now to moan and grown.

Apart from this line I agree, you will be disconnected for high data usage if you fall in the top 1% of high data users. They are disconnecting users for high usage.

I just won a fiver bet with another member that you'd be first to post Wonk... cheers chap, the pints on you

Well done, you've made my day mate, thank you.

It does appear that if you tether your phone and start going into the 5-10Gb a month usage you first get a warning and the if you carry on you are kicked and where enough that seems to me.

Yay! Finally they've added Blackberry support. My daughter has been waiting since Christmas.

You don't have to tether, it's just the high users that are being disconnected. They get disconnected, then a warning and have to re-accept the terms which say they shouldn't impact other users, then they get a last chance. If they continue to use a lot of data they get permanently banned from the network.

So it's not unlimited!

You keep going on and on and on and on... please change the record lol or look at your past posts... same old same old same old.

Anyway, back on track, this must be good for BB users, I use Android but am well chuffed with GG and hope BB users are as happy with the service as the vast majority are

You have to order a micro sim from this site: http://apps.giffgaff.com/microgaff/

It is to all intent and purpose, those that tether are the ones chewing up data.

I have been with Giff Gaff using an Iphone4s since last October and get unlimited data. Never have they had to contact me about my data usage.

If you play by the rules, then you shouldn't have any issues with the service

Anyway, I would say £13 per month to include 250 mins, Unlimited texts and data and blackberry service represents excellent value for money.

We're setting you up on our systems, and you'll be able to use BlackBerry services within 24 hours (but it can be sooner). When your BlackBerry shows GPRS, EDGE or 3G, this means you're good to go.

If for some reason your BlackBerry doesn't display GPRS, EDGE or 3G, which is needed to use Email, BBM and internet, go to either;

Options, then Advanced Options, then Host Routing Table, then press the Menu key and press Register Now.

or

Options, then Device, then Advanced System Settings, then Host Routing Table, then press the Menu key and press Register Now.

If this does not work for you or if you have GSM appearing on the phone, take the battery out of your BlackBerry (whilst it is still turned on), and then put the battery back in and turn the BlackBerry on.

Once you have the internet working it is important to register your email address (email set up) to the device to enable you to agree to the Terms and Conditions set out by RIM Blackberry and to allow you to use Blackberry Messenger and also Blackberry App World.

These steps should get you up and running. If not, visit the BlackBerry pages on our website at o2.co.uk/blackberry. You can also find hints, tips and guides from our Gurus on YouTube, and if you need any further help or support, visit the help section on our website at o2.co.uk/help.

Make sure you don't top up late otherwise your BlackBerry services, BBM, Email and internet will stop working, and once you have topped up it will take up to 24hrs for your services to be working again. We'll always remind you before your anniversary date, so make sure you don't miss out!

Out of interest, as it's prepay, what's to stop someone just getting a new SIM and starting over? Do they do thorough checks, or could you just get a new email address and make up a name and address?

On that basis, being banned wouldn't really be much of an issue!

Credit or debit card details for buying top ups would be one. Start downloading 5 or 10Gb a month on a phone will trigger the same alarm bells. Why can't people just be fare about things instead of looking for a way to 'beat' the system.

I can't remember the numbers but its something silly like 2% of GG users are chewing through 80% of GG data usage, don't tell me they ain't tethering their phones.

I am not looking to beat the system. I was however asking a question to establish whether giffgaff could effectively solve the problem by merely cutting users off. If not, it's pointless.

However, whatever the case, if they are doing this then it isn't completely unlimited and as such their advertising is just as bad as any other operator that claimed unlimited, with an acceptable usage policy/fair use policy hidden away in the small print.

A better option would be to impose a heavy speed cap after a certain amount of data, as that would put file sharers off right away. It's how many networks handle unlimited data plans abroad (including Three) and seems pretty fair and easy to manage.

You can't exceed your usage level on an unlimited plan though.

Don't sell it as unlimited if you aren't willing to give people unlimited, sell it as 1GB, 3GB, 5 GB or whatever you want people to have.

Funny thing is how giffgaff made such a big deal of not having a limit, at the expense of the other networks that imposed restrictions.

Now it's doing the same thing. Now, I can well imagine people are abusing it, but they either allow people to abuse the network or they impose limits and say so. You can't have it both ways.

Same old from you again. Looking at past posts it seems you get warned when you get up to getting on for 10GB a month usage.

At a guess I could browse the net and use face book et al comfortably for 3-4 GB a month so what are the 2% users using their phones for?

Wonk, you don't even use the service, all you have are some serious issues with O2 and Giff Gaff and while I'd like to think you are some sort of peoples champion I don't. All you do is drag down any positive talk from GG users and to be quite honest your posts are now tiresome so give it a rest please and let those of us who are very happy with GG enjoy our talks without them being constantly derailed by you and your constant negative comments.

Thank you.

Neo.

I'm not sure how you guys manage to use 3GB to 4GB on the O2 network. Did you do that on GPRS or did you find one of the rumoured O2 3G masts?

This is an example of a post where almost everything written is completely wrong.

The 10GB thing is old and was for investigation of tethering, this is before they brought in the new policy of disconnecting high users without investigation.

Wake up - you can do a lot with smartphones these days, not just browse the net. You can make Skype calls, download podcasts, watch youtube, iplayer, download game apps, stream TV and radio and much more.

Wrong again - I DO use the service, I have a PAYG sim which I use from time to time, not that any of that matters as this is a discussion forum and people are quite rightly saying that they shouldn't be banning users for using a lot of data IF those users signed up to a plan that they were told was unlimited.

I agree if they tether, ban them. But if they are using the data on their handset then GG are being dishonest and should not sell the package as unlimited.

When people open a thread (this one) with the following sentence:

Originally Posted by levineg:

”

Then people are going to pick up on it, as I'm sure the poster had the best of intentions, but it's not true.

Solid HSDPA everywhere around here....
jonmorris

Is that HS(D)PA or HS(D)PA+?

I also think it's just as important to have a faster uplink speed too. I now upload a lot of media into the cloud, so the upload speed is getting to be as important to me now. Even ADSL2+ doesn't cut it there.
