Late8 - you appear to be finding fault where either none exists or magnifying minor foibles out of all proportion and dissuading others from potentially considering the SGS2 as their next handset. Per your earlier postings re BBCiPlayer, it's evident that you've been unlucky enough to have received a faulty handset, but have done little if anything to rectify the problem, other than moan about it (your prerogative to do so of course).
You seem inclined to subject your phone to abnormal operating conditions in order to prove a point, which is something the vast majority of owners will not do. I did not experience what you have 'suffered' and therefore NOT lying. But once you've a bee in your particular bonnet....
The SGS2 represents fantastic VFM, and I would opine that even at current levels of technology, it's still the phone to beat. IMO, it surpasses the Galaxy Nexus as the SGS2 has expandable memory, better camera, equivalent processing power, better form factor etc...
I've owned Nokias, SEs and Samsungs in the past and the SGS2 is easily the very best mobile I've owned, giving me everything I've wanted from a mobile and more.
Strongly suggest you look for alternatives; the slavish, non-customizable ip4s (small screen, non expandable memory, itunes lock in etc) or worse still, the Nokia Lumia 800, though on surface appearance looks nice, it's very much the poor relation of mobile OSs.
Good luck.
