not on the iPad itself, there is an iPad connector to USB connector adaptor but that is only for getting photos on to the iPad nothing else.

just use the ipad over wifi to transfer files, it works quick and fast
plenty of apps and jailbreak tweaks to make it great over airplay, adding a wifi drive etc

OK thanks, I was wondering about using it as a film viewer for example - to view large files you would normally store externally.

not wanting to start a new thread - if you wanted an iPad for just surfing in bed or on the sofa - wifi is sufficient isn't it? I don't go on the train and would want to be using it then - or car journeys - I have my iPhone for that kind of stuff if I am away from the house! I am assuming you can't then use a 3g dongle in a usb form?
why would you need 32gig storage too - seems a lot - unless you were downloading films to watch etc?
Can get 16g iPad2 new for £320 which seems a good price. I'm not a technohead who wants to do endless amazing tricks with a tablet - its just more of a lighter and more portable toy to use for basic tasks - I'd be using the laptop for word processing etc.

You don't need any sort of dongle to use an iPad on 3G. You just buy the version with 3G built in and slap in a SIM.

Which is exactly what I am doing to post this reply.

Which is ok but would rather use a mifi.

I have 2 ipads so would of cost over £200 extra over wifi ones.
Would need to 2 sims

Paid £50 for the mifi and a tenner a month and can connect both.

I know which i would rather have and you have more options if needed to get other gadgets connected

Various apps such as air video allowing you to store the file on your computer or external hard drive and you can convert and stream it while watching.
