3 devices to do the job of one!
I am a bit of a gadget freak so always looking for the next best thing!
But it is a bit crazy right now I have to have 3 devices 4 if you count my NAS to do the jobs that I want. I bought a Sony Bravia Tv because I thought it would play my music and films from my NAS. WRONG its a brilliant TV for picture and sound but abysmal for networking. So I got myself a WD Live hub for my VIds and music brilliant for vids but rubbish for music, So now just got an Apple TV for my music and its perfect in conjunction with iTunes Match but will not find my NAS.( I am going to try and jailbreak it because from what I read that is the way to go) The first manufacturer to get it all in one device is going to make a killing if it works as people like me want it to (My moneys on Apple!) |

I think it won't be Apple. They have a vested interest in hardware. Jailbreaking Apple TV tells you all you need to know about that as a solution. Software products like XMBC point the way IMO.

Well I bit the bullet and jail broke my Apple TV. I have installed XBMC I wish I knew about this earlier could have saved a lot of money!
It is now a superb piece of kit it finds my NAS and plays my vids flawlessly. My music through my amplifier and speakers sounds great. I have installed the BBC iPlayer which works better than my TiVo. And as an added bonus it streams all my favourite video podcasts. It works perfectly with my Harmony remote as well so a very happy couch pototoe here! |

A PS3 or Xbox 360 would have been fine too
