Samsung 3D Smart TV set up
This is more aimed at owners of samsung 3D Smart tv's.
I'm looking to get the best set-up for my tv (ue55d6530) with both picture and sound. I use the SRS surround and Dialogue sound settings (for night time viewing) but it tends to vibrate a bit. I have it sitting on a glass entertainment unit. I then turned them both off but the sound is way too low and tiny as hell. I do have a cinema connected to it but cant use it at night while the kids and mrs are in bed. I some times use Turtle-Beach x41's ear phones while i'm gaming or watching a movie but dont like wearing them for prolonged periods of time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

Sorry, but LCD sound is generally absolutely crap (no room for decent speakers), and historically Samsung have been one of the poorest. Often Samsung have tiny rearward or downward facing speakers, and just to make it worse, force the sound through a tiny hole much smaller than the cone.
Use your surround and turn it down, or just reduce the sub volume. |

right ok thanks for that Nigel. How about the PQ settings. I use DYNAMIC at the mo but it does tend to be rather bright at night time and I dont know if prolonged use of this will have an effect on my screen and using the normal setting tends to make it a tad dark. Should i take room lighting into consideration too ?.
I have two tall uplighters at the back of our sitting room |

I have two tall uplighters at the back of our sitting room If you wish you could adjust it for the different conditions at night, but if you're not careful you spend all your time twiddling the settings, and not watching programmes ![]() Many sets have sensors to automatically adjust the picture depending on the ambient brightness - I ALWAYS turn these off when installing sets, it causes nothing but problems and complaints. But if you've got the option, you might give it a try and see how it works for you?. Incidently, such sensors go back to at least the 50's, and have been re-introduced every few years since then
