Just discovered the iMessage thing on the 4s I need to know something, I added a new contact yesterday and sent a text how does my iphone know the other user has a iphone with iso5 ? And the first is it charged like a random text until my phone knows the other end can use imessange ?

It automatically detects it using the iMessage database which everyone who has it on is on.
