Truly world class chefs and true gentlemen as well. Shame it's tucked away on Good Food.

I'd acually congratulate GoodFood for commissioning and producing it.
They have some very good homegrown programs.

Is this the Food Network channel? I've only just got this after researching on my freeview PVR. I did a search for roux this morning and nothing came up

Oh definitely, but it will only be seen by a tiny amount of people compared to the viewers it would get on somewhere like BBC2.

It's an excellent programme. I've been recording them and watched a few back to back last night - love those Rouxs! Agree that it's a shame that it's buried on Good Food.

Nope....Good Food is only (as far as I know) available on Sky and Virgin. Sky Channel 249, not sure about VM.

While I love 'Michele's ' voice and like Albert too. I don't like French cooking tbh.

Why? Surely if you have access it doesn't matter what channel it's on?

It doesn't matter for me, no, but lots of people don't have access to Good Food, and it's such a good programme that it deserves a prime time slot on one of the main channels. What's the problem with that?

I'm absolutely loving this. It's nice to see Albert and Michel together, they seem to have such a good relationship.

Also obviously I cannot complain at seeing Michel Roux Jnr on tv

I find it hilarious (and endearing) that they call MR Jnr Mimi!

Watching them cook is like watching turtle running.

And what's with the BBC/Good Food channel and the Roux people, bad enough Michel Roux has been on the box all the time , now they let the whole family in on the act as well.

I find the Roux clan boring, their food boring & overrated esp Michel Roux jr's food, so 70s that surely BBC could have done better investing in more exciting and innovative chefs/cooks & foods instead....IMO.

I would rather watch some select Masterchef winners given their own show than these Roux lot.

Fair enough - each to his own, etc. But they have had a huge influence on modern British cooking, especially with their support of young British chefs. It's actually amazing how many of the top (and most innovative, by the way - nothing remotely 70s about them!) chefs have worked with the Rouxs or gone through their scholarship system.

I prefer the hairy bikers tbh - cooks not chefs I know & they refer to Delia more often than not. Basic cooking is knowing the basics of bread, cakes, savouries, whime meals etc. IMO French cooking is laden in duck fat, wine jus, etc. every country has something to add to world's food - but French flavours etc leave me speechless.

Good Food have partly done it because of the Anniversary of The Waterside Inn 25 years 3*.
I guess they thought at the same time they could celebrate the legacy the family has had on British restaurant culture.

That's a real generalisation, given the size of the country and how enormously the cuisine varies from region to region.

I love the Hairy Bikers too though!

BBC2 have broadcast GoodFood productions in the past. It might find it's way on to BBC2 daytime.

It's good for GoodFood as more people might now tune into the channel to see home grown productions instead of constant BBC repeats.

My tv guide doesn't even carry the listings for good food, it's only because of DS that I knew about it.
