New pretenders come and go every year: Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga... but there’s only one Madonna.

At 53, the Queen of Pop put her throne beyond doubt yesterday when her new album MDNA went to Number One in FORTY-THREE countries on pre-orders alone.

Yet until it’s released on CD on March 26 fans will be able to hear only one single from the album.

But within 24 hours of *premiering the video of that first track – Give Me All Your Luvin’, featuring US star Nicki Minaj and Brit urban star M.I.A. – it had scored three million hits on YouTube.

In the video Madonna cavorts with American football players, *pretends to breastfeed a baby, pays homage to Marilyn Monroe in a blonde wig... and wears her trademark crucifix throughout.

Her manager Guy Oseary *said on Twitter: “MDNA is No 1 album on iTunes in 43 countries andGive Me All Your Luvin’ is No 1 single in 15 countries in just 1 day!! Thank Y-O-U

And this is BEFORE her promo kicks in??

She'll probably shift another 100,000 preorders with the Superbowl performance tonight!

Madonna rocks it!

Very much proves that name alone and a huge fanbase can do a lot!

Like when Michael Jackson unleashed his album Invincible...he had a video, some eprformenaces and the album sold name alone 3 million in a week.

That was in 2001....now we are in a new era of music...Madonna has dominated itunes! And proves that no matter what Madonna is always leader of the pack And damn I love her so effing much!

Cannot wait to see her rock the Super Bowl! Been watching previous performances (well my faves) and Diana Ross as the last female solo performer of the Super Bowl.......just cannot wait to see and hear what Madonna and her Team have created!

Lol their stupid project to trash every other artist is so lame.....they can say what they want, but just WATCH GaGa run and copy the chord progression and style of Gimme All Your Luvin' in a couple of years and claim it's something new....just like she stole Express Yourself, changed the words and called it Born This Way....

Diana Ross as the last female solo performer of the Super Bowl......
You forgot Prince.
She rocked it in 2007.

He had his band though, and its been non stop bands since Nipplegate.

But Prince smashed it! His and Mjs for me are the most defining of their respective decades! So i truly cannot wait for Madonna!

Saw DIana ROss performance last night....I mean I swear she is like the Kylie of America....in terms of campy appeal but just kinda effortless fun you know? But Diana was what? 51 when she performed then! I dont think she had all this attention back then either But she did a fun performance! Can imagine Beyonce in a couple decades time still performing like Ross did.

^Meh, Diana was cool and all, but I preferred her skills at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in the USA

I wouldn't even count MJ's performance as valid in any "best of" lists. For me, it's inexcusable for a performer of his status to lip-synch, thus, his appearance is null and void. He showed up, stood there for 2 minutes, then went through the motions for the remaining 10.

Prince, on the other hand, was fierce. It was everything MJ's show wasn't, PLUS he had no control over the weather and while it poured it down, that bitch still tore it up. Meh, the Twinz were crap with their little doves on sticks, but that would be my only complaint.

M will turn it out, and tonight will be very exciting if only for the sheer spectacle she will put on.

Haha that is one way to look at it....but yes Prince was a trooper and proved that no matter the climate....he would rock out that stadium

And yes it will be everything! She is gonna belt it out, have intense choreo...have her best friends on stage with her and laods of surprises galore....it will be amazing for long term fans, new fans and listeners watching...being touched for the very first time by a massive Madonna performance!

'From what you've read'...i.e. all of 2/3 posts....I don't care about GaGa much since her new album anyway....besides she'll be gone soon enough anyway. A shame she strayed so far from The Fame which was excellent to pretentious trash....

I cant doubt Madonna has created some gems over the years. I love her music...How people can like her as a person though is beyond me.

In all her interviews over the years she comes across as incredibly rude and hard! She has no manners, is totally up her own arse and thinks far too much of herself. I honestly detest people like that.

I just cant warm to her at all as a person through her interviews..I prefer A-list celebs who come across alot more humble and down to earth.

She just doesnt seem very nice at all. Horrid woman who should have got run over years ago!!

A total god when it comes to creating good music!

She is a bit of a bitch and would be a demon to work for but her fans love her music to be honest. If it was a personality contest she'd be a nobody but 30years of great music is what counts

Have you actually seen all her interviews? I've never understood where this idea she is so rude and horrible comes from. I was just watching an interview she did on an American sports station to promote her Super Bowl performance and she was very lovely and warm. Now like anyone, sometimes she can be in a bad mood or bitchy . But the majority of the time she comes off as funny, friendly and down to earth in interviews.
I feel as though people have this idea of her being a certain way and they twist things she says to suit that image without really listening. Whereas other celebrities who don't have that same image can say the bitchiest things and the media just excuses it.

Yes, she's just vile, isn't she? Let's just base her personality off of her interviews with countless annoying journalists and fans she'll never know. Let's judge her personality because she doesn't kiss anyone's ass, and has built a huge estate and legacy due to her own hard work, intelligence, talent and creativity.

Gosh, I wish she was more like Katy Perry or one of those other nice popstars, who don't make me think and don't challenge the mainstream with their ideas, and always fawn over their adoring Monsters/Navy/Plastic Bags.

Why do people pre-order mp3's, it's not like they will run out.

You must be joking???

For starters MJ sucked badly as he had turned into a pathetic near complete mime artist by then.

The album performed very badly as well, it only sold massively in its first week due to the exploitation of MJ's fanatical fan base buying all 5 of the different coloured versions of the album cover, but it soon dropped away down the chart soon after. Selling very poorly compared to his last proper studio album "History (Continues)". It spent on it's initial chart run just 9 weeks in the UK's album chart going 1-5-18-32 in it's first 4 weeks. Whilst in the USA it spent just 1 week at #1; and dropped out of the US Top 10 albums after 3 weeks.

Whilst the lead single "You Rock My World" only topped the French chart; peaking at #2 in the UK & #10 in the USA.

If MDNA does as badly as "Invincible"; then it would strongly suggest she has lost her crown; just as Invincible's poor showing suggested that his crown (at the time) had been passed on to Usher (although shortly Justin Timberlake could lay claim to it).

However, looking across some global iTunes and seeing how Give Me All Your Luvin' is doing:

USA #11
UK #17
Argentina #2
Austria #32
Australia #42
Belgium #6
Brazil #1
Canada #9
Denmark #30
France #3
Germany #26
Greece #3
Ireland #23
Italy #2
Japan #17
Mexico #2
Netherlands #11
New Zealand #45
Norway #16
Poland #2
Portugal #3
Spain #2
Sweden #3
Switzerland #10

Not exactly (to put it politely) as dominate as when the likes of California Gurls; Born This Way or We Found Love were doing when first released, and none of them had the video ready from the get go either.

So (unwittingly) comparing Madonna now to MJ's Invincible era might turn out to be a good call, But not one I'd imagine Madonna nor Interscope would like.

Give Me All You Luvvin hasn't had an official release yet. You get it as a free gift when preordering the album so the only way you can get the song is to order MDNA.
