You have to laugh at the sour grapes and jealously in this topic!

I am lol at the member trying to make out Gaga broke Madonna's record for highest grossing tour ever!! like when and where?

Madonna is massive at the moment and her haters are running scarred. They are going to shit themselves after her performance at the Superbowl tonight as well!

Yes but for everyone else who bought the pre-order MDNA, the single is available for "free" and won't be counted in the singles chart.

Give over please.

GMAYL is only on the itunes chart because the single is given as a FEEBIE for preodering the album. This deal lasts until tomorrow which is why the song cannot chart under UK chart rules

This is a one off. You also have to consider that Madonna's lowest selling albums get around 5 million copies. For an artist who can get 5 million copies for her "flop" albums, that is phenomenal in itself. We could spend argument over argument comparing artist with artist, but firstly, Adele isn't really "pop" music. So to compare her to Madonna is a little unrealistic.

I reckon MDNA will sell 12-16 million copies overall. Maybe not in as quick a timeframe as Adele, but to dismiss the success of Madonna's download achievement is slightly naive. This in itself makes her the Queen of Pop. The crown has never slipped off her head.”

"21" will most likely be the "Jagged Little Pill" of 2011, a feat impossible to repeat.

Not doubting you (hey, I've made the odd seemingly crazy at the time '21' prediction that actually turned out to be a massive under estimation!) but that would make it as big a seller as 1998s Ray of Light!

I see. Definitely explains why the album has charted so high on pre-orders.

GMAYL was officially released as a single in its own right today. The song shot up the itunes chart on the strength of pre-ordering the album alone since Friday.

Madonna isn't to everyone's taste but let's be realistic- the single is hardly sinking over here...

well madonna has certainly set the standards for artists like britney spears, beyonce, rihanna, katy perry and lady gaga also artists like whitney houston, mariah carey and janet jackson have also been influential too maybe celine dion to a few artists but as influential as the ladies i mentioned that are influential. those ladies have been hitmakers since they first got started just like madonna was back in her heyday and her comebacks.

same goes for michael jackson he set the standards for artists like usher, justin timberlake, chris brown and bruno mars. these men have been hitmakers since they first got started just like mj was back in his heyday.

Bearing in mind that a small number of people (in comparison to everyone who buys records/music etc.) have used iTunes and that many more prefer not to! The single will be a top 5 hit. that in itself is good enough for me!

Before anyone says "but what about Gaga's achievements?", well, how many singles from Born This Way got to number 1?

Also, Madonna has already had 13 UK number 1's, and in 1992 when Erotica was released and she had under her belt 7 UK number 1's, everyone said she'd never have another number 1 again!

Lady Gaga isn't even in the top 10 of highest-grossing concert tours. Madonna is at 4 for the highest-grossing female solo artist ever. Lady Gaga is at 16.

With Erotica I did really hope Erotica, Deeper & Deeper and Rain were chart toppers i mean they are timeless like the album itself

But anyway, Madonna has her albums tied with Elvis for number 1s hasnt she....and only the Beatles have had three more number 1 albums than her (until MDNA that is!) So daaaayyymn she is epic.

Sure Madonna isnt everyones cup of tea....but those who she is drink the quality quirky tea I mean horror films, comedies, sci-fi arent genres to everyones taste but they kick ass! So does Madonna...she kicks ass on a massive scale.

You dont have to love her to enjoy the music....everyone can love whatever music they like if its solid stuff! go crazzzaaaay!

That was a hard period of time to be a Madonna fan. Everyone was saying she's gone too far and her career was effectively over. Erotica, the Sex book and her flop movie Body of Evidence. She made a misjudged appearence on The David Letterman Show as well. Erotica, the single, stalled at number 3, the album no. 2.

Yeah, I think she should have launched the Sex book a few weeks AFTER the album. Everyone seemed to assume that the album was as racy as the book and a lot of non Madonna fans who might have bought the album, didn't.

Also, I also think Erotica should have been launched with "This Used To Be My Playground" which was positively received. If it had done I think Erotica (the album) would have been number 1. It's a shame as the album is absolutely fantastic.

But the album was and is a masterstroke...it really is. I mean the style, the vibe of that era...so so very dark and classy...the production plays like a blockbuster! I mean what an era then! Wow!

Personally I think Body of Evidence is a fantastic film. And I do NOT like all of her films Infact, I'd say it's her best film, I found it truly gripping.

Yeah. What a flop Gaga is. Shame on her, been around for 3 years and hasn't even managed to get into the top 10 of highest grossing tours ever! Instead she's at a crappy 16th place, surrounded by music legends and no contemporaries, after one tour. A slacker is what she is.

I mean, honestly. Some people.
