The point i'm saying is, everyones acting like shes the biggest star of right now, obviously shes bigger than Katy Perry/Lady GaGa/Rihanna, they've been round for like an 8th of how long Madonna has been around, but as of right now. Adele IS the biggest thing at the moment, 32 Weeks she's been #1 on global chart so far,
Her 2003 and 2008 album sold 5 million and 3.8 million respectively. Sales less than that of Rihanna/Lady GaGa's past albums, so they're hardly "incredible"
Confession on a dance floor sold 12 million albums around 2005/2006 which was incredible, but even now when Album sales are at their lowest point it doesn't come anywhere near the 18 million so far, of adele.”
I don't think I said she outsold everybody with ROL. You made it sound in your post like she couldn't sell as much as Adele did - and maybe you're right, who knows? - so I was just reminding you she did it 14 years ago when nobody predicted she'd come back as strong as she did after lacklustre sales she had with Erotica and Bedtime Stories. As for AL and HC, seems like you're trying to use them to undermine Madonna's status for unclear reasons. AL was a flop full stop. She suffered a backlash with it, no one liked it (or decided they wouldn't like it after the release of AL's video). HC's sales were underwhelming but considering she hardly made any promotion for it after its launch and got to sell-out her tour which clearly promoted the album - unlike the RT which included AL's material - I don't see these sales as bad actually. And if you pit them against's Gaga's or Rihanna's, then don't forget to mention the relentless promotion that goes beyond these two and their albums, then you can have a fair point
Now I'm curious to know where you get the idea that everybody acts like she's the biggest thing on the planet right now? If it's the fact you can't escape her with the press writing about W.E., her SB's show, GMAYL video and the album, then it just proves her star power, when realistically, you've got list of pop tarts being flavor of the past 3 years and Adele sailing for a year with her album. But then you're contradicting yourself by stating Adele is the biggest thing right now because of her album sales. Yes she's a big seller, a huge one ever but does she have the power that goes with it I don't think so. Can't help thinking if it's not for Amy paving the way with B2B and then her fall from grace, even if she was fairly successful Adele might not have been that huge thing everyone loves to think she is. Anyway, pitting MDNA against Adele's 21 is a bit random and unjustified to me...
