I've just used some plastic cable wrap to bind my sky box and ps3 power cables together and HDMI leads together to make them look neater.

Is this safe to tie them together?

Thanks

yes as long as its not so tight it will damage cables

you may get interference but doubt it

It is fairly tight but I don't think it'd be a problem.

Interference in what sense?

just cross talk from other cables , or signals leaking from one cable to another

but you would have noticed thisbefore

It is fairly tight but then again I don't think that could damage the cables being grouped together.

I have cable tied mine as I hate seeing cables , I have one of those black 3 shelf glass corner units with a 42 plasma on the top shelf but it bugged me as I could still see the cables from the various freeview dvd boxes etc going up through the cable maintenence holes at the back .So I did some measuring and got some stout card and sprayed it black and placed them at the back of each of the panels where the holes are and now I swear you cannot see a cable anywhere .I have also made a black card panel between the top shelf and the back of the tv so you cant even see a cable between top shelf and the gap behind the tv .Give it a go I'm sure you'll be delighted with how much tidier it looks .I'm surprised the companies who make the shelves havn't come up with a solution similar to mine .

From the point of view of interference it makes sense to seperate the mains connections from the low level signal connections. From the point of view of safety would you worry about handling mains cables while they are still plugged into a socket.

Current wiring regs insist on seperation between mains and low level signals when installed in the same fixed permanent duct. . It's nothing to do with any percieved danger, merely that someone might mistake a low level signal conductor and cut into a live 240V conductor.

Best to seperate analogue connections from HD HDMI connections merely to avoid interference.

I use Velcro these days, much better than cable ties as you don't risk cutting in to the cable by over-tightening the cable tie and it makes it much easier if you need to add, remove, or change a cable.
