Restarting phone drains batterry.
Has anyone ever had a problem of needing to restart their phone (switching straight back on) and losing about 20-30% battery life? I've noticed my Samsung Galaxy S2 has done it a few times now. I'm running Android 2.3.4.

Update to 2.3.5.. See if that makes a difference. You shouldn't be losing that much power.

K2.3.6 for the S 2 has been available since December the 12th last year, so you should be receiving it via Kies anyway..

Most likely it does not lose the battery life, the indicator probably gets stuck and restart fixes it.

It's possibly the standard surge on startup that always lowers the voltage and thus the indicator.
With so most energy used as heat obviously it is impossible to lose a real 20% without getting burnt. |

Try resetting your battery stats. I ended up gaining battery after rebooting (don't know how that works)

I don't think you can without rooting your phone. And i'm assuming rooting isn't for you based on the above posts.
But to be honest you will lose some battery when you reboot. It may look like a lot percentage wise but its just the battery that thinks its lost a lot more than it has. You should notice that it still takes the same amount of time to drain the battery than it would have if you had not rebooted. Unless its dropping from 90% to 50% or something, then i'd say it was probably a big battery issure. |

You should think yourself lucky.
Steve Jobs was famously 'shocked to find' that the iPhone lost about 70% signal bars in a blink of the eye. With a battery there is no commercial need to twist truth. Maybe they all recalibrate after getting accurate information from the voltage drop at the boot up power surge. I can never quite understand why they show bars rather than a numeric % at the notification bar. |
