Galaxy S2 Yellow Screen Defect
ajh94

Hey everyone,

I know this has probably been bought up before but I have a yellow screen problem on my Galaxy S2! I don't want anyone to tell me to send it back because I can't. This is my 3rd Galaxy S2 as it is as my 1st one had a problem with the home button, 2nd one had a call quality issue now I have this one which is useable but has a yellow screen. In addition to it being my 3rd one I am passed the 30 day return period by about 2/3 months, so doing a return is out of the question and as it's rooted and flashed I am thinking warranty is also out of the question.

I always knew I had a yellow screen problem on this 3rd one because my other 2 were noting like this but I never thought it was too bad... Until the other day my mate got a Galaxy S2 and bought it over, when I compared his to mine that's when I realised how bad mine is! I took some photos, please take a look (My mates with a prefect screen on the left and mine with the yellow screen on the right).

I just want to know how many people actually have this issue and whether there are any software apps that may fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Send it back as you have a fault on the screen.

As I said I CAN'T sent it back! I just want people to see these pictures and I want to know if anyone else has this defect.

I thought the 2.3.5 update eliminated the problem that was in some batches of the phone.

Yes you can. You have a 1 year warranty on the phone with Samsung. You can just unroot it by flashing the original rom back on which will also get rid of the yellow !.

Of course your custom rom count will be marked as 1 they will know but, you can by a USB jig to reset this so they dont know. Costs about £4.

Most of the UK doesn't have 2.3.5 yet unless they use custom roms.

I have tried my custom ROM, official 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 (Flashed with ODIN) and some ICS ROMs and NONE of them get rid of the problem. As I said I am NOT interested in taking it back as I can't and I am not going to send it back on warranty so please don't advise me to do so like I said in the OP.

I simply want to know if anyone else has this!

ebay/ 'back of a lorry' I reckon. No other reason why they can't send it back, and they seem reluctant to elaborate.

What do you mean by that!? :/ - I got it as an upgrade on Orange from Phones 4U, all 3 of them so its legit!

Reason why I don't want to send it back is because its not really bad, I can still use it! Also I have had 3 of them already, I can't send it off and be without my phone for ages, its a pain in the arse!

Before you start assuming my phone is stolen or 'back of a lorry' just understand that all I am asking is whether anyone else has this, not "Please can everyone just say take it back"!

You say there is no other reason not to take it back, its because its not bad enough to maker it worth being without a phone for ages!

Have a look on Google and dedicated forums (xda-developers is good one). Yellow tint, yellow, spots, faded areas etc have been reported elseware since the phone was released.
Some were firmware related, others hardware- (faults on OLED).

Take your pick...

BTW if it is a new phone then you can send it back - just undo the root and jig if you have too. If its something dodgy then you should have checked before you buy ! !

Thanks i'll look into it. Just to make it clear for everyone 1 last time its NOT a dodgy phone, it's not stolen, it simply has a fault. It was obtained from Phones 4U.

Because it's over the 30 day return window, I have spoken to them on the phone and they won't do it, they will not replace it, they have told me to contact Samsung about the warranty. So i'll either do that or just leave it.

As I said I am not looking for options on sending it back i simply want to know if anyone else has the problem!

I see. If it really bothers you and is effecting image and video quality I would send it to Samsung.

I would recommend going to a dedicated forum because there's a lot out there about the issue. You wont get much on here.

So it says, hmmm. Though neither Kies or the phone itself can see an upgrade.

Orange were always slow with Blackberry releases so I wasn't expecting 2.3.5 soon anyway.

Still can't understand why the poster won't send the phone back if its a legit phone.

Go into store and they can send it off, they have a repairs line you can contact and track.

Although saying that it is phones4u....

Under the Sale of Goods Act your contract is with Phones4U and NOT Samsung. Samsung do not have to do anything. The sale of good act also states that things should last for a reasonable period of time and so only being a few months old they should still honour it.

Don't let them dismiss your complaints, they have an obligation under the Act to deal with it.

Also the Sale of Goods Act supercedes any warranty

I'm going to call them today, and ONCE AGAIN! It IS a legit phone the reason why I didn't wanna send it back is cos its inconvenient to be without my phone for a week!
