ISO Swipe and Binty
Well, following your recommendations, I got hold of Salvation - Cult of Luna and Isis - Panoptican.
What can I say? Mind-blowing stuff. I'm extremely impressed. Of course, all these recommendations do nothing for the wallet, but it's great for the ears! Thank you both.I also picked up Steve Wilson's Blackfield album - great if you enjoy the melodic side of Porcupine Tree, and Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret. That one's like a mixture of Nightwish (Ghost Love Score) and Ayreon - again, highly recommended strring stuff. Thanks again folks

Glad you liked them Megson. I also pre-ordered the Anathema from play.com. See thread on page 2 or maybe page 3 now.

Hi Megson, you mentioned a Steven Wilson Blackfield album. Can you give any more details? I'm a fan of Porcupine Tree's more song-based albums - Lightbulb Sun, and particularly Stupid Dream. Can you give examples of PT stuff this Blackfield album is closest to?
Thanks in advance. |

Glad you like them
I think the Cult of Luna cd is especially marvellous, but that's probably because my expectations were lower... was expecting great things from Isis and I wasn't disappointed! If you're liking Panopticon then I would also recommend their previous album Oceanic...I still haven't got any Anathema! Hoping to remedy that tomorrow, being as its payday... any recommendations on where to start? Ayreon is another on on my list... Not so keen on Rhapsody though: I find them pretty funny but for all the wrong reasons! |

Highly recommended! ![]() |

I didn't manage to get hold of any Anathema, but thanks for the recommendations: they're on my list for the next Amazon shop
![]() I did pick up two absolute gems instead though which I definately recommend: Heartache - Jesu (chilled but heavy with clean vocals, also pretty cheap as it's a two track mini album) and The Eye of Every Storm - Neurosis (once you've heard this you can tell where Cult of Luna and Isis got the idea from )
