Problems with 'sluggish' fish
My neighbours had 5 fish in a tank indoors. They have lost 3 over the past few months and all 3 had the same symptoms.
The fish swam sluggishly, tended towards the bottom of the tank and came up for air which they gulped and swam to the bottom again. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this? Thanks in anticipation. |

Poor water condition is almost always the cause of poorly fish.
What sort of fish in what size tank with what filtration system and maintenance routine? |

If they are goldfish, then 5 in an indoor tank is too many and they would have died from either lack of oxygen or poor water quality.

An immediate 50% water change. Does the tank have a filter because it should have?

i had a surge in ammonia a few weeks ago and lost several fish.
did water changes and managed to get the the levels back down to normal. i hadn't seen my two clown loaches for 3 or 4 days so looked inside the ornamant they take refuge in and found them both dead. gutted as i had had them for about 4 years |

Thanks for the replies. The neighbours are away at the mo but I shall tell them all your comments.
I am looking after the fish whilst they are away! Oh dear. |
