I really don't understand these 'get the single free when you buy the album' type deals...surely if people were that keen fans they would buy both anyway, if they weren't that keen but the single impresses them they'd buy the single and then probably buy the album later (if not straight away, but after single no 2)
I just don't see how it is attracting anyone new to the album. All it does it give a minor boost to the first week album sales...but means the single could flop.
Coldplay's Paradise probably woulden't have been a hit if they hadn't gone on XFactor, due to the stupid pre-order deal making it linger around the lower part of the top20 for weeks.
Overall though, the issue for Madonna's single is the lack of airplay...it is rare to find a hit that doesn't get bit airplay these days (Moves Like Jagger was ignored by Radio1, but got massive play on the commerical stations) that coupled with the fact it is a different sound to the mainly dance/R&B in the charts means it may take time to win the public over.
