Yesterday after finally watching the superbowl performance i decided to listen to madonna songs for the first time. With all this Madge v Gaga stuff happening everywhere i was always pro-gaga, even though born this way was slightly lacklusture on the catchy level.

I have heards some madonna songs from hung up- give me all ur lovin (which i think is boring), but i have never listened to her old stuff which i thought must of been good for people to call her the queen of pop, but i thought gaga stuff would be better, and i have to admit.. I WAS WRONG!!. Madonna has so many songs its rediculous and so many hits ( wikipedia discorography). like a virgin, materiel girl, vogue (gay anthem), like a prayer and My new favorite song of hers..

FROZEN i loved it straight away, so gothic and beautiful.

So yeah i have always thought gaga would be bigger then her in the future, but now im not so sure...

Her vintage stuff will always be her best. I think the whole lot of her first album is stunning, in particular. Out of her later stuff, I like Music and Confessions On A Dancefloor the best. They seem like a more natural progession from her older pop. But my all time favourite Madonna songs are Borderline and Open Your Heart.

Live to Tell is the best in my opinion (first single from True Blue)

Frozen, Borderline, Lucky Star, Angel, Dress You Up, Causing a Commotion, Cherish, Rescue Me and Deeper and Deeper are also really worth a listen

Oh travelling through Madonnas career is just seblime fun!

I mean each era has a fantastic new feel you just cannot deny. I love that her 80s anthems have stood the test of time, each album is a treasure.

Have an immense time with it tim18. And dont worry you can still like gaga and every female artist you want to...but damn Madonnas career in overview is just unrivalled!

I'm 28. It seems so weird how youngsters have not even heard some Madonna songs

Here's a few more songs you should listen to:

Express Yourself
Papa Don't Preach
Holiday
Open Your Heart
Into The Groove

I've been listening to these songs as well recently. The ones I mentioned earlier are my favourites, but these are also good. Enjoy

Angel, Causing a Commotion
I love these! I also love Supernatural, which was the B-Side for Cherish, but it's probably one of her most unknown, underappreciated songs.

Can't Stop and The Look of Love from Who's That Girl are also great.

One that I like that she did which is very different from most of her other hits is Justify my Love.

I've discovered the American Life album today, and really, it still sounds so fresh. Hollywood could be a single right now.

Does nobody remember 'Supernatural'?

I had this on tape around the time 'Open your Heart' came out. I think She was in a band before She went solo.

I think American Life was treated very unfairly when it was released. The title track isn't great, admittedly - thankfully Madonna hasn't rapped since - but there are enough good songs on there. It is the Madonna album I listen to the least, however, it must be said.

I really like Madonna's earlier work and prefer it a lot more then her work 1995+
I can't believe that there are people who have not heard her early stuff - 'Like a prayer', 'Borderline'?! Those are some of her best songs. I've heard of them and I'm only 23!
I'd advise anyone who wants to listen to some Madonna's best music to get 'The Immaculate Collection' containing all her top hits pre 1990
