09-02-2012
When using my S2 beside the signal bars i normally have H or H+. Now since i got this iphone 4S it only ever shows 3G.

Does any iphone show H or H+ or do i need to be phoning 3?

Cheers

Think they mean cause H/H+ are technically versions of 3G?

Apple don't think you'd be interested as to whether you are using HSDPA or not. So they do not differentiate.

But the 4S is capable of 14Mbps HSDPA - even if it foesn't shout about it!

Personally I'd like to know, but I do see why they'd rather keep it simple. (the little circle for GPRS seems to confuse people I know as it is!)

Three support HSPA+ at up to 21Mbps at present moving to 42Mbps later in the year.

T-Mobile seem to have just enabled 14Mbps HSDPA this very evening - see the thread I have just started.

Also I think Vodafone have it in some areas. If its taking networks this long to start using H and H+ just imagine what it will be like when they are finally allowed to launch 4G! It will take ages I bet.

isn't the way the iphone achieves this though a bit different? which is why i thought it only worked on AT&T.

regardless though, even if you did get the faster speed, you would never know as it would still just say "3G" in the status bar (unless you constantly ran speed test to see what speed you were getting).

there was talk of AT&T working with Apple to add an "H" icon, but it never materialised it seems.

The iPhone 4s does not have HSPA+ but it does have HSDPA 14Mbps which is not restricted to AT&T in the US - although AT&T may be the only US company implementing it, HSDPA at 14Mbps is offered by many operators around the world.
