I thought they were still limited to 7.2Mbps, but have just done a speed test in an area of excellent coverage that reported 7.6Mbps throughput, which indicates a 14Mbps profile is in use.

Using an iPhone 4s with a MBB option.

Really - so I don't need my MBB option anymore to get over 1.8mbps?!!

When did this happen?

A-ha - this is making sense now. I lost my hotspot option last night for no reason but it came back again at about 8pm. They must have been modifying my plan.

Confirmed. Uncapped at least for now. Fastest available speeds for ALL customers. Capacity seems to be holding up too!

Used to get no more than 1.9mb ish.

I'm back to 3.9mb/s. Up and down more times than a yo-yo.

If they have uncapped then you could well get a much bigger variation in speed than before as the load on the cell increases and decreases.

Can't do a proper test again at the moment as I am on a train.

Yes its uncapped. So really busy areas might actually be slower now but for the mast majority it'll be faster.

Just done another test was 2.29mbps download and 0.37mbps upload. So it varies from time to time.

Explain to be how it will be busier and slower now a cap has been removed.

There is the same amount of backhaul to the towers now as there was last week. If it was busy before the cap was removed you could still only share what was available.

Yes but if everyone was capped they may not have been able to use up the capacity.

So now they can use available capacity, but the capacity hasn't changed at all, so how would it be slower after the caps were removed?
