Nokia 3410 - 02
Mad Hatter
09-02-2012
My friend has given me a mobile phone and left the sim card in too. I cannot simply put in my sim card which is on t-mobile. Would it be possible to alter this mobile phone so it can take my sim card on the t-mobile network? Thanks for any help in advance.

Just to be clear this is a circa year 2001 Nokia 3410 you are talking about?

Have you tried your SIM in it?

If its the 2001 3410 then its a DCT-3 handset as such there are loads of free unlock code generators for it on the net if it is locked.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I took the phone to a guy on the local market who has a good reputation. He actually put his own sim card into this phone which was t-mobile and it wouldnt take it. He did say it was a good phone and about 10 years old, so you sound about right. I have no idea where to look for a code so could you guide me or give me the code please and is it just a matter of keying the code in? Thanks very much in advance.

isn't the battery dead after all that time?

Hi bowland37 - the phone has been used regularly until recently when my friend bought a Blackberry but the man on the market said, when he took the battery off and saw a red colour at the end, that the battery at some time has been damp - does that make sense? He offered me £5 for the phone!

Hi wikimbo - thanks for the link, I will have a look at it.

You can buy a new battery for next to nothing then so long as the handset works just unlock it if need be and hey presto you're good to go.

Ooh eck, cor blimey, Gordon Bennet, shiver mi timbers, I have done it, I have actually managed to unlock the phone following the link (thanks wikimbo)! (The man on the market said he would unlock it for £5, £5 - I dont know)!

So presumably, I can now have my t-mobile sim card in the phone or even the original 02 sim card that my friend left in, is that correct?

It is a shame I wasnt given this phone sooner because I have bought a new phone but it was only £4.95p a Samsung 1080i and it is fine and uncomplicated which is what I want. I have put my sim card back in my Samsung and I have noticed on the screen where there is a little icon representing phone calls, when I lock the keypad at the side of the little green telephone is a tiny white circle with a red edge with a red line through it and I dont know what it means. Maybe it has always been there but I have only just noticed it. I have studied the tiny leaflet that comes with the Samsung but cant see anything about the tiny white circle, any help would be much appreciated.
