...and what do you get? I have one once a week

Usually Chinese but sometimes a Dominos pizza. From the Chinese I like crispy duck and spare ribs, or mighty meaty Dominos and those little garlic and mozzarella sticks.

I'm just nosey and like to know what you get from the takeaway and how often

if anyone on here were real foodies you wouldnt need takeaway with so many good books for indian, chinese and so on why bother, and making fish and chips at home has to be far better than gambling on a fish and chip shops quality just lately

Sometimes even 'real foodies' need a night off

i understand that but just latley in our area takeaways are not great quality, seems as though places are cutting corners with ingredients, and not only that by the time you wait for it to be delivered you could have cooked it anyway

i use anjum annands book called i love curry instead of ordering currys, its excellent

We didn't have a takeaway for about 5yrs, but just lately we have discovered chicken kebabs. Unfortunately we can't get anything delivered to us, so we have to venture out to buy it ... and its a 50 minute round trip, so you REALLY have to be desperate

We did have one last Saturday though. Watching telly hubby suddenly announced that he fancied one and went to pick it up whilst I sat at home and watched TV Burp. Can't be bad

we had Indian last night, just could not be bothered to cook. OH had a "Nargis Kebab" -anyone tried it? Boiled egg wrapped in minced kebab meat, with an omlette on top.
Never seen it before on a menu, he said it was lovely. Had to unblock the loo this morning though

I wish we had a Mexican takeaway nearby

Well as I say we have a lovely Turkish place nearby that actually delivers (we eat in there sometimes as well )

If I can't be arsed to cook though I tend to go to my local pub and order a portion of Pad Thai - it is the best ever!

Of course my preferred alternative to home cooking is to go out somewhere lovely to eat.. I love restaurants!

Probably once a week. Try to be 'healthy' so get things like Tandoori fish and steamed noodles rather than curry, or vegetable stuff from Chinese shop or anything that is not fried from the Japanese place. Usually edamame beans and tofu salad.

If I'm not being healthy then I like KFC

Our area is exactly the opposite..we have a takeaway we've been using for years called Abdul's... I used to live by them so went in often, as a chef I was always asking questions until they eventually let me into the kitchen for an hour while they cooked. It was clean, ingredients were fresh and the cooks were brilliant.

Now I've mooved out I their area but built up that good of a rapport with them that they will still deliver and they even send a Christmas card.

And I defo disagree about the 'real foodie' comment. Places like dominoes/pizza hut yes they are franchised and mass produced cheap food but a lot of local takeaways (at least around my area) take more care with their food then resturantes

I used to be the same, easily eat takeaway 4 times a week. The problem was even takeaway food I'd go overboard on. If I got fish supper I would have fish and chips and a fish butty.

Or on a major overblown night I could eat an 11" garlic bread with mozzarella, 4 jumbo BBQ chicken wings, a 1/2 cheese burger and chips and a hot dog!

It's no wonder I blooned to 20 stone when I was younger!
