Astonishing and sort of makes you realise she had probably been struggling for the best part of 2011 (even though Adele at 75% is better than most anyway imo). This is Rolling In The Deep a capella from her 60 Minutes Interview.

A nice gesture by both The Grammys and Adele. The benefit concert should be good.

Adele’s pipes dreams

MGH doc: She’s ready to sing at Grammys

Adele might be speechless at Sunday’s Grammys — she’s favored to win six — but it won’t be because of medical problems.

Nominated for Song, Record and Album of the Year, Adele returns to the stage Sunday for the first time since her November throat surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Being the most anticipated performer of music’s biggest night comes with a lot of pressure.

Her surgeon, MGH’s Dr. Steven Zeitels, expects her to shine.

“It’s not too early for Adele to be performing,” Zeitels told the Herald ahead of his trip to Los Angeles to the awards show. The doctor and his family will be special guests of the Grammy Foundation, and Adele has invited him to her Grammy party.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with (Adele’s) results,” he said. “She should be singing beautifully for years to come.”

Adele fans were worried last fall when the singing sensation canceled a string of tour dates because of vocal troubles. When news leaked she needed surgery to stop a vocal cord hemorrhage from a benign polyp, the British singer-songwriter’s amazing year — “21” topped the charts in two dozen countries — and career seemed to be in jeopardy.

Fans can relax.

Zeitels, the director of MGH’s voice center, has patched up rock ’n’ roll superstars from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to the Who’s Roger Daltrey with his ground-breaking laser surgery.

Zeitels’ patients are so thrilled with his work they are planning a benefit concert to raise money for his throat cancer research. Imagine Tyler, Daltrey and Adele on the same stage. Now imagine that stage in the TD Garden. The doctor said he’d like to have the event in Boston, but they haven’t settled any details. Even with the hype around Adele’s performance, Zeitels insisted he’s not nervous for his latest star patient.

“People will look at the ability of Adele to come back, and it will change what they think can be accomplished (with vocal surgery),” he said. “It’s funny, when you do what I do, you are living through your patients, it’s like being a parent watching your kid on ball field. But she’ll do fine.”

She sounds EXACTLY like she used to, to my ears.

Hopefully now with this "improved" voice, she'll have the balls to tackle the big notes in Someone Like You and Set Fire To The Rain.

What will she sing at the Grammys?

SFTR - to boost US sales?

SLY - emotional song and everyone will be crying.

Who knows? If she was the sneaky sort she would sing any song off the album except RITD, SLY and SFTTR and then achieve the 'double' with the first 4 singles/songs off the album (#1 song, #1 album in the same week). That's one record that would take some beating!

No way on SLY. Already done that.
RITD has to be sung. Has to. Maybe she sings SFTTR also.
And everybody is betting that she opens so they will give her a little extra time (anybody remember Gaga's openings?!).
With extra time she could do a medley of both songs. Sounds like an awards show thing to do.

Wouldn't surprise me - the press seem to be suggesting she's 'headlining' The Grammys, lol.

PS Not convinced it's fair on the others getting her to open, lol.

don't know about better than ever, but as good as ever and that'll do me. Just need someone close to her to tell her to lose the big hair and all will be well

I have to agree - the hair is getting out of hand now.

PS RITD up to #15 on US iTunes.

it looks enormous now, and she looks so much cuter with just her own. It's a minor thing but it irks me

or why not RHI? SFTTR has already hit the top and RHI needs exposure, and what better way than the biggest awards event of the year (and most prestigious?)

Also it can gain her more fans. She needs airplay and it takes forever for her to get it, so IMO a new song should be sung (well new single).

All her singles sales will increase anyway, so why not promote a mix of SFTTR and RHI...start off with the former and then segue into RHI.

That's basically what I was suggesting in post 7. If her and her label were ruthless they would sing a non single from the album. Its sales the week after would very probably be large enough to negate any of her rival's airplay advantage and voila - another #1!

PS All her singles are increasing already even though The Grammys isn't until Sunday.

US iTunes:

3 ADELE - Set Fire to the Rain
13 ADELE - Someone Like You
14 ADELE - Rolling in the Deep

Agreed!! It works doesnt it. It happened for Beyonce at the VMAs, her highest itunes peak from this era #4/5 IIRC. Funny how her sales are rising, weird too....I get the grammys are coming up but still....does that make you spend money...I dont do that - I have sense LOL!! Good for her though

I'm not in the US but reports I've read suggest it's like Adelemania over there at the moment.

she is going to completely clean up after the grammys sales wise, whatever the outcome is. having sold over 16 million records in the past year in the US. i see no sign of her popularity letting up there.

on topic, good to see her voice return to form.

not sure I agree... I thought her voice sounded higher on certain notes and her low notes were significantly off ptich. The Low notes hopefully were off pitch due to nerves.
